In a word: Respect. Dr. Carlisle listened to me, answered my questions, before and after the surgery (breast reduction). He treated me kindly, his office treated me kindly. I wish my other medical providers in Iowa listened, responded, and allowed to to ask questions the way that Dr. Carlisle and his staff did, and continue to do one year after my surgery.

Edit: In the many phone calls, emails, and office visits after this surgery my skin quality was *never* mentioned as a reason for the complications. No explanations were offered, only that it had never happened to the Dr. before.If you are looking into plastic surgery I urge you to find a surgeon who specializes in the specific surgery/body part you need work on, even if it means traveling out of state. Dr. Carlisle gave me a lower blepharoplasty and cheek implants (which he recommended for the best results) and it's been a nightmare ever since. I had extreme ectropion immediately after surgery. My lower lids were falling off my eyeballs and I had a deformed look. He had me come into his office for a second surgery under local anesthesia which was quite traumatic and made the problem worse and more difficult to correct. I have since had to pay (go into crazy debt) for a surgeon across the country to correct it as much as was possible. This is after paying for Dr. Carlisle's failed surgery. I have lost massive weight and this was going to be the start of dealing with all of the excess skin but now I will not have the money for any more surgeries. He may be good with breasts or other body parts but do not trust him with your face!

I can't honestly put into words how wonderful Dr. Carlisle is, as well as his staff. I recently underwent a double mastectomy in May with immediate reconstruction. Dr Carlisle walked my husband and I through the process and really took his time with each consult. It is very obvious he has compassion and treats you with genuine care and eases your concerns. His bedside manner is phenomenal and he truly listens to understand and gives hope and peace throughout the process. He took his time with us during each visit to answer questions both before and after surgery and we never once felt rushed but more like I was his only patient. That is an amazing quality in the medical community! His staff and nurses were easily reached over the phone and willing to answer questions immediately. I couldn't be happier with my experience, and the results he has achieved for me so far as I continue my care through him. Thank you for doing what you do and always going above and beyond!

Dr. Carlisle and his staff are are absolutely wonderful and make every patient feel comfortable and at ease. It was easy to tell that Dr. Carlisle truly cared about the overall well being of his patients and are non-judgmental. After losing a substantial amount of weight he was able to remove the excess hanging skin that was causing medical issues for me. He took care in the placement of incisions so scaring wasn't as noticeable. He also makes amazing belly buttons when performing the reconstructive portion of surgery!! I could tell he takes great pride in the quality of his work. The staff also provided thorough documentation of what to expect during /after surgery and answered all of my questions putting me more at ease. I would 1000% recommend Dr. Carlisle and would use his services again if needed.

Note: micheal was great, I felt confident and I really truly wanted him to be my surgeon but his staff was awful.

I cannot express how thrilled I am at my results and overall experience from my very first consult to my latest three-month post-op follow-up appointment with Dr. Carlisle! He and his staff provide excellent care, privacy, service, hygiene, and atmosphere. Between scheduling consults and follow-up appointments, as well as the day of my surgery, he and his entire team were above and beyond professional, comforting, and supportive with all my questions and concerns, and matched me in excitement, too. I never felt like I was being 'sold to' or talked into my surgery. Dr. Carlisle listened to each of my concerns that I hoped rhinoplasty would correct, addressed them, and gave me realistic expectations. He will make sure that your results are not only beautiful and complement your other facial features (symmetry and overall balance to make your nose look like one you feel you should have been born with all along!), but also functional. I met with several doctors in the Omaha and Des Moines area before scheduling my rhinoplasty because I wanted to do my due diligence and research, but I was most impressed by Dr. Carlisle from the very first handshake. He is highly esteemed by past patients and has dozens of well-deserved five-star reviews and praises online. If you are looking for an amazing plastic surgeon (and ENT), look no further! He is equal parts surgeon and artist!

I highly recommend Dr. Carlisle, hes a kind and wonderful person, and an excellent surgeon. He removed several tumors from my face and neck, one down into my throat. He did excellent work, I have little to no scarring. The tumor going into my throat was incredibly large, there is so little evidence of an incision, that it looks really nice. His staff is very kind and helpful. I no longer live in the area, but wish I did because I would like for him to perform my next surgery.

Dr. Carlisle is a great doctor. I have Breast Cancer and I was scared about having to have a Mastectomy and he made me feel so much better with what he could do to make me look like I did before. Doctor Carlisle and his staff are incredible. After losing 137 lbs Doctor Carlilse removed the unwanted skin from my stomach and lifted my breasts. Words cannot describe how happy I am with the work he performed, amazing! After surgery I had a rash due to allergies from something the hospital used to clean my skin. I contacted Dr. Carlisle's office and they immediately helped me. I have never experienced such a fast response from any doctor in my entire life. If you are looking for an outstanding surgeon and fabulous staff go no further call his office and set up an appointment you won't be disappointed! Dr. Carlisle and his staff are friendly, compassionate, and very knowledgeable in the specialty of plastic surgery. I was referred to Dr. Carlisle after an unsuccessful reconstructive surgery by another surgeon following my double mastectomy. After discussing all my options, it was his confidence and desire to help me that led me to choose Dr. Carlisle as my new plastic surgeon. After my initial reconstruction, every time I looked in the mirror, I was reminded what cancer had taken from me. Dr. Carlisle began by removing my original implants and replacing them with expanders, followed by new implants, and finally with nipple reconstruction. The results were incredible! Cancer did not win this round! Thank you so much, Dr. Carlisle!

Dr. Carlisle is the real deal. I had a cosmetic nose job/rhinoplasty and I am like a new person. I know and saw other plastic surgeons, but I chose him. He may look young, but completely amazing, knowledgeable, skilled, and knows modern plastic surgery. I think the old has gone and the new has come to Des Moines. My nose looks amazing! Dr. Carlisle and his staff are wonderful! He preformed an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) on me in February of 2017. The surgery went great with no complications or issues. Dr. Carlisle and staff did a wonderful job explaining just what I should expect, the good and bad. They went into great detail to explain all the possible complication that could occur with this type of procedure to ensure that I was beyond well informed. They were very understanding, pre and post-op, of all my concerns and questions, not once did they make me feel like I was asking a crazy question.I would highly recommend Dr. Carlisle and Staff and I would most definitely do it again with his help.

After a significant weight loss and a less than satisfactory experience with another surgeon, I felt more uncomfortable in my skin than ever before. After reviewing my case and medical history, Dr. Carlisle tirelessly advocated for a corrective procedure for me with my insurance company. I not only chose Dr. Carlisle for my corrective panniculectomy, I used him for elective skin removal from my thighs and a breast augmentation as well.
