Seen dr barks she was thorough in her evaluation. But recommended injections instead of surgery. Got called from the injection side saying that the doctor would go over my referral and submit my paperwork with my insurance company and get back with me to see if my insurance would approve things and the staff is so lazy that they haven't even sent the paperwork to my insurance after 2 weeks. I should file patient neglect

BAD - the doctor herself was proficient but the rest of the staff were like some kind of TV sitcom. Bad tempered and incompetent. I realize I got off on a bad foot, after waiting at the desk for some time I was sufficiently rude to interrupt the retelling of one of the receptionists romantic history. Nurse Ratchet in the back made sure I understood that I was interupting her also. Your going to have to wait for an appointment a long time for neurology anyway, wait for a better clinic. It will be worth it

Waited over 1.5 hours and never saw the Dr. just his PA. At 1 hour my 3 month old granddaughter started throwing a fit and the nurse opened the door and asked if everything was ok. When I said no we've been waiting a hour she quickly disappeared. Terrible service. Building sits a block off the road with no signage to find them. If you can run away or NEVER make a appointment to begin with. If I could a negative star I would. The only shining person was the front counter girl. She gets the one star rating.

Lumbar fusion follow up was rescheduled and done 3 weeks late. Found out I needed a lumbar MRI and another follow up (which I knew). Ron, their work comp person, didn't do his job for 3 weeks and sent absolutely nothing to my adjuster & only finally did after I placed several calls reaching out to a few different people there because nothing was done. After he finally did this, 3 weeks late, he told me my follow up wasn't for another MONTH. Most places will have you back ASAP if you tell them you're having NEW pain and NEW symptoms AFTER surgery and they'll send you for testing and follow ups immediately. Apparently the people scheduling patients here don't see it as a priority. Surgery follow up done 3 weeks late. Don't do their job for another 3 weeks after that. Schedule me for a follow up 4 weeks after that. So, apparently 2 appts that will probably take 10 minutes combined, somehow takes 10 WEEKS! If you expect to be seen after surgery if you're having new pain and symptoms, get timely responses, be scheduled in anywhere close to a reasonable time frame and not wait weeks for responses and a month to months for 5 minute appts then go elsewhere.

I had surgery on my neck and lower back done by Dr Henry and the outcome was amazing. I was able to go back to work and only have minimal pain even after working 12 hour shifts in Nursing. Im completely pleased.

Receptionist did not clarify completed papers had to be returned to the reception desk before a patient was officially checked in and left us sitting 45 minutes before checking on it. Very poor patient service.

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Grundmeyer and his team. If it wasnt for him I wouldnt be walking today, and maybe not even alive! 10 years later, my grandma was sent to Abay under James Weimar & was diagnosed w/ a glioblastoma. He was absolutely amazing and professional and helped in guiding us in how to proceed with the next steps of her life. I have referred many friends and family & will continue to refer them to Avay!

Ive always had a pleasant experience with this office. Dr. Dickerson and his staff are fantastic. I had an ACDF surgery done recently by Dickerson. His nurses always are good at getting back with my calls. Ive experienced no problems post operatively getting my scripts refilled. Both Julie , and the symptomatic nurse Kristen have been wonderful to deal with. Usually they call the same day, and always treat me with respect. Dr. Dickerson has the best bedside manor of any doctor Ive ever seen. He truly does care, and does great work. Everyone has been a delight to deal with. Even their front office staff has always been friendly towards me. Thank You Abay Neuroscience Center.

I don't know about these bad reviews Dr. Dickerson is the best doctor I have seen in all of Wichita. I was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year and I saw several doctors and neurosurgeons they all told me my tumor was not the issue well Dr.Dickerson listened to me and removed the tumor and guess what is was wrapped around two main nerves in my brain. My life is almost 100 percent better! Thank you GOD for Dr.Dickerson

Im putting one star only because you have to select a star to leave a review. I drove an hour an a half and missed a days work for an appointment I had no say in scheduling. When I arrived ten minutes early with all of my paperwork completed ahead of time, I was told that they would not see me since I had not arrived thirty minutes early and they have a strict thirty minute policy. I would have been understanding of this under different circumstances. The receptionist rudely told me that whoever scheduled the appointment with me should have informed me of this policy, but they hadnt. She refused to make eye contact, had a rude demeanor, and was unwilling to work with me and allow me to use the appointment time they already blocked out for me. To make it even better, there was a sign on the desk saying that the doctor was running late today and appointments would be pushed back, yet I still could not be seen for the appointment I was early for.

DR TOKALA IS THE worst Dr. I have ever been to in my whole life.the thangs he has done to me is just out right evil. He can't even put in a referral. He is all about the money and will harm you in the process. He has no common sense and I have no idea how he got as far as he has. I'm gonna say this from the heart...if your in extreme pain like me please find you a good Dr this one is not for you.

Im sure the doctors are great once you can actually see them. But the ladies at the front desk are awful. Theyre rude, they dont listen. Theres no way that I would ever refer someone to this office.

Dr. Dickerson was outstanding. However the receptionist was so ridiculously rude. In addition to her being nasty about waiting in line.(only people in line and we had a high back wheelchair that could fit in the ropes) we got to witness her talking down to multiple patients, being brusque and rude and just ugh. Very disheartening honestly made an already rough experience just that much more painful.

The surgeons are good, but the administration and other staff are slow, and unfriendly, and maybe incompetent. They are in no hurry that's for sure !!!!! My husband has been waiting 5 months for his surgery. They have lost his records 2xs, and we're still waiting for a surgery that he was approved for long ago. He is in extreme pain! and has numbness in his extremities ..Yet he can't even get a returned call . :(

Unfortunately it's always been an uphill battle interfacing with operations in the facility since 2012..I'm exhausted.Getting a wheelchair and cane sourcing healthcare from other centers.Update ... 2 failed surgeries leave me no option but to update down to 1 star. Arrogance abounds and an inability to listen to the patient....needs, concerns and desires. Have faced 30 years of experience with the medical establishment and undoubtedly THE WORST I have encountered. I hear horror story after horror story about experiences with office staff and Drs and failed surgery and redo's to correct failed surgeries. Just wrong on Soo many levels.....should be charged and required to refund for failed or poor surgery perhaps this would get them to wake up...Sorry but it needed to be published.

Dr. Mellion, his nurse Bonnie, and all the staff I have encountered at this facility have been professional and caring. Patients have just as much responsibility in their healthcare performing research and determining the correct path of care for themselves that is the best for them, and have to understand no health care professional can speak in absolutes or promise miracles. Dr. Mellion was polite, spent time with me, answered my questions, and did not make it seem as though his services were my only option. Bonnie spent even more time with a thousand phone calls from me with even more questions. I am pleased with my surgery and recovery, and I would recommend this facility.

I am ecstatic the outcome of my surgery is amazing I have no numbness in my hands, no tingling and my fingers, no more numbness in the arms, and no more pain between the shoulder blades. After surgery the tingling and the numbness in my arm was gone instantly the numbness in the fingers was gone about 16 weeks after. The pain I have between my shoulder blades is good pain it's from working the muscles to regain strength.I give a hundred percent thumbs up to Dr. Henry and his crew.

The doctors and staff do amazing job there. You will not be disappointed.Update: On April 9, 2019 Dr. Mellion performed lumbar fusion surgery. L1 to S1, surgery was performed and on the 2nd day after surgery I was walking and on the 3rd day I was release from the hospital. It has been 7 weeks now and the surgery was a success. I have hardly no pain, walking 2 to 3 miles a day (In 8 hours), pain in my left leg and foot is gone no more numbness and I'm able to sleep through the night without pain. Dr. Mellion, Jared Conklin P.A. and Bonnie are the best team around. My surgery was major surgery and had 12 screws and rods put in and I'm just so grateful after having pain 24/7 for over 12 years and not sleeping that it's all gone. God bless all of you and Kansas Spine hospital was also the best. 'Do not grow tired of doing good works'

Our experience with the consultation with Dr. Lothes was really good. There was a mishap on the schedulers part that caused a delay in getting my surgery scheduled, but the Administrator was amazing at helping us get everything worked out so that I could get one step closer to having my life back. She, and Dr. Lothes went out of their way to help us.

If I could give a negative I would. Been in the waiting room for an hour and a half. We watched about 8 people come in after us and yet they got called before us!!!!! We would never recommend them to anyone! Plus the receptionists are not friendly nor nurses..... I see why they have a low rating now....

I had a 3,4,5 fusion done by Dr Henry. During our consultations he would never look me in the eye. Who would be willing to put their life in his when he cant even face you. I had been referred to Dr Dickerson but couldnt get in for more than 2 months. (Id been in pain for 16mo already.) Once I decided on surgery his staff became rude. They wouldnt let me go to the spine hospital because Wesley had something new he wanted to try out. The morning of the surgery he was 45min late. I came out of surgery feeling like I had a bridge in my back. I did not see him again though I heard him in the hall. A pa cane a couple of times during my 5day stay. Wesleys staff was also rude. My 4 incision was closer to 7. When I got home the home healthcare sent a pt who recommended pt at the Neuroscience Center. They were the worst. He also told me Dr Henrys office was always in chaos. While I was convalescing I would call the office with a problem that worried me (including a fall down the stairs) my care coordinator couldnt have cared less. My follow up with Henry wasnt assuringI dont think he touched me or even checked my incision. After a few months I had worries about my back and called the care coordinator for an appointment. She said we were finished. I told her my post op instructions said I was to call for an appointment if I had concerns. She begrudgingly made an appointment. A few years later I fell from a ladder and needed surgery at 2-3. I consulted Henry for a 2nd opinion. I asked the nurse if had learned to look people in the eye yet. He recommended fusing my entire spine (unacceptable). I noticed that this time his finger nails were filthy with grease or dirt. No way hes working on me. As he left he asked if he had passed the looking in the eye test. I regret not shaming him about his nails. One thing they dont stress is that the vertebrae above and below the fusion wear down from stress. And, when I go for epidurals for pain, the doctor cant reach the targeted area because Henry filled the space between 3,4,5 with synthetic bone putty filler. I needed an opinion a few years later and was sent to Dr Melliona pompous d-bag. He said that IF he chose to treat me. He told me there was a20% chance of success and that wouldnt last. My companion became angry than I did. I found a surgeon who was wonderful. He visited me every day.

This place does not deserve one single star. The only reason I've got one star is to be able to share with you and warn you of the environment you will be placing yourself into by choosing this place. I really wish someone would have warned us, prior to my husband's surgery. He went in for surgery November 22, 2017, the day before Thanksgiving. His surgeon was Dr. Lothes. The staff here is VERY rude, will talk over you, pay you no acknowledgment to the issue at hand. The surgeon must have been in a rush for, what I could only assume, the holiday beings he glued my husbands entire incision. Not STITCH.. GLUE.. We did not take the bandage off for a week before calling the nurse there and asking if we were to change it because the nurses that tended to him after surgery said two weeks at the post op appointment, unless it came off sooner. The nurse I was sent to, however, told me it needed changed every day. Say a week after surgery we removed the bandage and there was 3x1'' of flesh showing like it was folded over and just glued. My husband had to go to his primary doctor to have that fixed. They were not impressed with the closing of the incision. We are now 2 1/2 months post op and my husband has had nothing but severe swelling, causing his whole body to shake and in severe pain. He tried explaining that to the nurse there and told them he was having much worse pain and swelling than before. She answered with, 'So it worked? You are doing allot better? Great!!' Without him getting a word in. That's not what he said... Their communication skills, along with listening and mannerism is VERY poor. My husband had an MRI scheduled 4 days ago to see what exactly is causing the issue. The radiologist performing the MRI was also very rude. Told him do not even try to fall asleep in there. Do not move a single muscle. She wanted him to lay flat on the hard surface for 45 minutes and not move a single muscle. He told her his body jolts because of this.. He has no control over it. She told him, I don't know what to tell you. Just don't move... He's in there, and his body does what he told her it would because of the pain. Because of THEM. She stops the machine and lectures him about moving.. Excuse me??? NO.. My husband's primary care physician, along with the staff of where he sees his primary are extremely pissed about what this place has done and how they talk to them, as well. The fact that my husband went there in hopes of them being professional and proper just to come out worse because they didn't do what they were supposed to. Because the surgeon was rushing. I am HIGHLY disappointed in the outcome of this place. Unless you are looking to possibly be set up with hospice for the rest of your life, DO NOT consider this place. For the better of your health, please do NOT. There are better options with doctors and staff that do not treat you like a piece of dirt on a door mat.

I seen Dr Lotus. He speaks very frankly. Tells you what to expect. He didnt jump right into surgery, and referred me to another Dr before we decided on surgery. I appreciate honesty and frankness. They took care of all insurance issues scheduled my appointment with Dr Park. I have no issues at all with Abay.

I want to take a moment to thank Dr. Grundmeyer and all staff, for a very successful surgery yesterday! This has been a longtime coming as I have been living with a L4/L5 & L5/S1 herniation for roughly 13 years and finally caved into surgery, and 1 day into recovery virtually all symptoms of the nerve pain is gone! I cant wait until full recovery so I can resume being a husband and father that my family deserves! Thank you guys again!

I had a total of 3 surgeries from Dr. Henry. Starting December 2016 to September 2017. The last surgery was to correct problems the surgeon caused. I did as I was told and probably should have got 2nd opinion when he told me there were hardware problems with fusion that had to be subsequently removed. ( He put a screw into my spinal cord) Nobody is perfect and he went back in at my insurance expense of course and removed hardware but as soon as i started Physical Therapy and requested follow up with him as he told me to do in my previous appointment he had his CNA me in a rudely tell me that he wont be following up with me anymore its my primary care providers job. Basically that I am not worth the follow up because he cant get anymore surgeries out of me and the clinic appointment isnt worth his time. I would never imagine doing this to a patient This is how he will lose many referrals. I am a rural family doctor so he has added insult to injury for his practice. If he does this to another physician I can only imagine what he does to patients with little medical knowledge. I am very disappointed with the process of dropped care more so than any non- intentional mistakes. I can never with good consceince refer any patients, family or friends to him or the group. This ending has ruined all of the journey because he made a decision to not follow up with me at the most important part of my care. He was only interested in surgeries that may preserve my neurological function and may reduce my pain. Now I am in Physical Therapy with follow up from my pcp who need to convince a specialist to follow up on another surgeons 3 surgeries (1 of which he he put hardware into my spinal cord). I am still at risk of needing more surgery but the follow up care with this group nonexistant unless they think they will be doing a another surgery on you. I would discourage anyone from seeing this group unless you get their gurantee of surgical follow-up in writing after or during physical therapy. If you get that get a second opinion too. I have lost 90% of my confidence in them by failing with follow-up.Good luck. If you have time ask several dozen questions and have someone with you and take notes. They will take advantage of you. Then when you are no longer a surgical candidate they will lose interest in any treatment.

I do not recommend this doctor, (Dr, Lothes) I had my surgery almost two years ago and in more pain then what I was.. My family doctor is deciding to take me off pain pills and I hurt so bad. So please either find a alternative before using surgery, you may hurt more after surgery then now. These doctors here at this clinic don't care about the ones that are not successful they will have a cheesy grin on their face saying you are fine, the plates in your back look good....really then what about the nerves?? Can you see nerves on a ex ray? If you call they usually do not return you call. Had to add a rating to post this, they need to fix it, because I do not even want to give them one star! I am sorry that I seem upset but this pain hurts so bad. They sure like the price they charge for this surgery, laughing all the way to the bank, while you are in so much pain, at least some one is happy. Look at the bad reviews on this place, they have more bad then good.So please if you need surgery look for a doctor that has more good reviews. Maybe Dr. Ottley in Hays can help you. But don't take a chance of hurting more. I was stupid trusting all doctors, all I did was want to go back to work, I love truck driving and I will never drive again. So please be careful of picking out a surgeon. I also should add that the entire time I was in this hospital no one came to clean my room or bathroom that we had to share with some other man. We... my X husband and son, I asked if anyone ever came in to clean this room and they said no. Also they pre-cooked their food and I order bacon that was freezer burned, I called a few days and told them but still I got the same nasty tasting bacon, so I had to order something different.

I have had nothing, NOTHING, but amazing service and care with this hospital and doctors. The doctors do seem to run a bit late but they are spectacular surgeons!! Dr Henry preformed a spinal fusion on my L4 L5 S1, I woke up in no pain and have been pain free since surgery in 2013. Dr Dickerson has performed a 're-do' (had one done in 2007) microvascular decompression about 2 months ago for my Trigeminal Neuralgia. I'm doing better every day. My recovery has been long but the pain that I went in for is completely gone. I would recommend either of there two doctors to anyone!!

DR Matthew Henry did a routine surgery on a year ago. I was supposed to go in that morning and that afternoon. Because of Dr Henry I am now a cripple. He did five surgeries instead of one. He is an incompetent butcher. He ruined my life. The bastard should not allowed near a hospital.

Some of the staff are very rude. The attending surgeon misdiagnosed and didn't listen or spend much time with patient. Only pushed surgery. Crooked, Doctors only in it for money by pushing patient into surgery. Don't go there, they are no service to the community and its people.

This place is a joke. Today tops it. No return phone calls, rude staff, long waits, have never seen the actual Dr. that we were scheduled with. Now you lose paperwork on a patient you've been treating but yet when it comes to billing you don't hesitate to send those out. To anyone looking for care, go somewhere else.
