Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center Reviews

Recently I went with my wife to bring her grandfather in to the ER for a possible heart attack. They brought him inside quickly, but when we got in the room I noticed the floors were dirty and actually covered in dried BLOOD in more than one place. The nurses seemed helpful and nice, but at least one did not seem properly trained. I am a pharmacy tech, so I know how drugs are supposed to be reconstituted (mixed), and in this case a nurse did not fully reconstitute a Solu-Medrol act-O-vial, which meant that he did not receive a full dose of medication. Also, the alarm on his heart monitor went off repeatedly and not one nurse came to check on him.

We showed up to ARH @ 9 pm and didnt get a room until midnight! We proceed to the room and its 4:08 am and the patient hasnt been checked by any doctors instead theyre out laughing and sounding like theyre partying. ARH used to be the best but now theyre the worst.

I wouldn't even put a 1 but since you cant write anything without putting at least one star on here then here goes. Just because of someone's age doesn't mean that your health problems should be made fun of or whatever. It was the worst er visit I have had since I have been to the er. The staff at the er was rude, and make you feel like you are 'STUPID'. I wouldnt recommend anyone to go there. I think that all health problems or complications should be looked at no matter what your age is. I WILL 'NOT' BE BACK that's for sure.

I went to an appointment and was told my insurance was inactive. This was right after I got bloodwork done. I left and called my insurance which in turn called the clinic. The insurance provider said everything was active and not sure why they told me that. When the agent tried to call the Dr's.office secretary several times, they couldn't reach anyone which is the same problem I have. So, half a day wasted and I had to make another appointment. I'm also tired of the snide remarks I sometimes get from the secretary at this particular office. If you hate your job that much, don't impede the process. Just quit. They also have discriminatory hiring practices,. They will hire friends and family before taking note of external applicants. Another local business that is in the 'good ol' boy' network.Update: Still, and probably always will be, discriminatory in their hiring practices. I've applied for several jobs that I was fully qualified for only to receive a weak, yet rude, canned 'At this time, we have decided to concentrate our attention on other candidates who we believe best meet the current needs of our organization' message. Due to being in a corrupt small rural area, more than likely they hire friends and family first. This fact shows in the lack of quality of the majority of their workforce. If you're not family or part of their clique, don't bother applying. One of many small town living burdens.

The rn in the er knew I was 12 weeks pregnant. I had a uti, first they tried to prescribe me MACROBID which Im HIGHLY allergic to and I made that very clear, then she prescribed me Bactrim, that is the most unsafe antibiotic during pregancy. I asked her if I could take amoxicillin she completely ignored me then they gave me an 800 mg bactrim to take!! & during pregnancy you shouldnt take it at all and especially on be taking 160 mg!!! When I asked what the medicine was she replied just take the pill. I am very upset, & actions need to be taken if these nurses and hospital isnt trained to give meds they shouldnt.

They are lucky I can't put anything less than one because this hospital is the WORST hospital i have ever seen in my life... I will NEVER take a dying dog here... They tried 15 times to put an iv in my son who is only 9 months old when they seen it wasn't gonna happen after the second time but they decided to keep trying and 2 nurses thought it was funny.... I will NEVER recommend someone to go here.... I HATE THIS HOSPITAL!!!

If you need to go to the emergency room, avoid ARH and go to Williamson Memorial Hospital instead. Few, not all but few of nurses in the emergency room does not mind to harm you as long as if it means to get something from you such as your blood. Especially for people like me who have hard-to-find veins, while I personally (obviously, since I know my blood veins) showed a nurse where to find it and where to get the blood from but the nurse demand that she is to get the blood from the hardest place to find the veins in me which is the center of my arm and she guaranteed that she would find it and that she would get blood. After several warnings that she would not find any veins nor to get any drips of blood from there, that all it would do is to harm me and she plead that I allow her to give it a try so I said only one time even though I know she would fail to do so. She went ahead, put rubber bands on my arm, said 'I found it!' (in my mind, no she did not) and she poked a needle in it. Guess what? No blood! I said, enough. She pulled needle out, again she demand another try and I told her that I warned her that I would only give her one try. She practically begged, so I gave in and said one more then that's it.She put the needle back in, same place and this time she had even harder time to find the vein and harder time to get blood from there so I told her to pull it out. She refused, she pretty much move the needle all over around in that one spot and she hit the nerve I screamed for her to get it out! She kept going at it, I screamed 'STOP! Listen, STOP! All you are doing is hurting me, I warned twice and yet you are still going at it even worse than the first attempt'. She ignored my request that for her to stop and pull the needle out. So, in too much of pain and I had no choice but grabbed her hand then made an attempt myself to pull the needle out but she fought me to keep the needle in. So, my mother there with me she demand her to pull out and she also refused her request so I push her away from myself then another nurse heard my scream so another woman came in to her surprise to see how stubborn that that nurse were so the second nurse immediately pulled the needle out then that stubborn nurse left (finally). So, the second nurse I explained everything about the fact that I am one of few people who has hard-to-find veins and that the first nurse act as if she knows it all. I explained carefully, I said 'listen, THIS IS WHERE you will get blood from so put the needle in THIS EXACT SPOT where my finger is and there you will get blood out. Then we both will be happy!'. So, she listened and put the needle in the exact spot that I told her where to get the blood from. It only took her within' 5 seconds to get all blood that she needs. The first nurse who did several attempts to get blood from me, took about 20 minutes and achieved nothing. Aftermath, I became ill due to being overly stressed by the pain that the first nurse caused with getting the blood from me.The nurses in Emergency Room, one of them named Angel and among few more others are horrible. They refuse to listen to you to get what it is needed, like where to get blood from especially that you know your body better than anybody and some of these nurses beg differ. After all the drama, I had to be admitted to have a surgery in the morning. The nurses that tends you in second floor and these nurses who takes care of you if you are to stay at the hospital are very nice. That's only good thing that I have from there, is that the nurses that takes care of you if you are admitted is nice and sweet. But some of the nurses in the emergency room are not so sweet and are not so nice so if you need to emergency room I would go to Williamson Memorial Hospital instead or better yet Pikeville Medical Hospital if it's not too far.If you are dying, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT go there because my uncle, my aunt, my grandmother and my grandfather passed away there in particular order.

Absolutely awful place !! Ambulance took me there, they let me lay there and almost bleed to death, when they knew what was wrong with me! They didnt tell me anything, they gave me medicine that shot my heart rate up, and my blood pressure was deathly low, after 6-7 hours they sent me to pikeville , and I was told pikeville had waited on me for that long. They done emergency surgery ASAP. I had lost 2 liters of blood and ended up having to have 4 blood transfusions! Needless to say, we are in the middle of getting a lawyer now , and we WILL do something about this! Its not ok!!!!!!! Especially since they didnt know how to cath me & caused problems with my bladder!! We will see you in court ! Its all documented !!!!!! I wouldnt take my dog to this place! Never recommended!

They really love their patients. My grandma was there when she was getting very sick. She was in there about 3 months before she died. We were really happy with the service that they gave to her. If you ever need healthcare in the Williamson areo, go to ARH.
