Fairbanks Orthopedic Center Reviews

I have a short experience with him. I would NOT refer him to ANYONE! I had heard of him before my injuries and the best word that was spoken about him is CONTRADICTORY! To even give him a star or 1 point of 5 is being extremely kind!I have heard of these so called pain management clinics prior to my injuries but I had never been referred to one of these. Even his so called pain contract is CONTRADICTORY & is way below standard meaning. However, I am extremely ethical so I thought that I would try whatever he was going to do. First of all let me say this, he automatically assumes that you are a drug abuser because you have the correct amount of medicine in your system via blood and urine. If thats not enough, I dont know what is. I asked him from day 1 if there is a non narcotic that will work please prescribe it, he told me he will be putting me on cymbalta and a very small dosage of norco 5/325. I have no problem trying this out, however he wouldnt prescribe a months dosage for either medicine is the whole truth of his prescription writing. I told him I have a list of everyday medications that I need (mandatory) to take. On his contract it states I am only allowed to see him. When I tried to bring this up in his office, he cut me off! I was trying to heal from being in a major car wreck and with his HARM to patient, non-ethical, biased, cynical self, I was re-injured under his care! I spoke to his NP on the phone during my last appointment and explained to her EVERYTHING! They dropped me as a patient (thankfully) but after he called me and upset me again when he shouldnt have even made the call; he did not tell me this over the phone either. I found out the next day by taking care of my responsibility of calling his office to try to schedule a new MRI! It is my right and my responsibility as a human to ask questions about my health! He doesnt allow it! He will state, Will you please not interrupt me?. I stated to him on visit one, Will you let me know when I may ask questions?. He will use every tactic possibly to not allow you to ask questions. I am not certain if this has to do with his personal character or the patients diagnosis. I have read and heard from other persons that his incompetence has nothing to do with the patient (its not patient specific) & I believe those persons! So please be AWARE! As for my injuries, I have sustained high trauma injuries and a high trauma spinal cord injury. I am aware of his incompetence of treating someone with a spinal cord injury as well! I am like a few others who have Medicaid due to my injuries and I do READ and I do know what Medicaid will allow also. He lies about this and the state and federal laws as well! My experience is not fully complete above. However, I dont have the patience to type it all out. If I am going to do it this way, I would like to use my patience and time in typing out a real complaint against him.And for the record, no I didnt fill his prescription (pain med) last time either. I marked across it in ink and mailed back to his office and wrote on the line DO NOT FILL. Positive Note: I have a referral to a REAL Pain Mgmt physician. Hopefully, I will get an appointment soon! I have had treatment from a REAL pain Mgmt (anesthesiologist) physician before and I have 0 complaints and hes actually retired.

To say his bedside manner was lacking is an understatement. No one should be submitted to the treatment I received. I am not saying he isnt a skilled and knowledgeable physician, of that I have no doubt that he is but I, myself would rather live in excruciating pain than to be submitted to his abuse of authority. He is very well aware that he is the only pain management physician that accepts Medicaid in the State of Louisiana and isnt very polite in expressing that. He further more has no qualms about telling someone that they need to lose weight and what diet plan they need to follow. I, for example was weighed in with a heavy 3/4 length cashmere coat, a heavy purse, heavy boots and leg braces which added 35 lbs and was told to be quiet, not speak and shut up. No one deserves to be treated the way he treats his patients. As I walked out, my driver asked what happened and as I explained, the other patients nodded in sympathy. Our poor, our elderly etc. do not deserve this.

This so called Dr, told a 52 year old lady to shush while she was trying to relay information. He had my sister, take off her pants for a reflex test. He never examined her back or neck. He would not let us ask questions before cutting us off. He didn't read medical records and ignored the most current records. Most UNPROFESSIONAL doctor I've EVER SEEN!

ALSO I TRIED TO TELL HIM ABOUT A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A PHYSICAL THERAPIST AND HE CUT ME OFF IN A YELL AND SAID THAT THERAPIST IS THE BEST ONE IN THE AREA AND HE HAS NEVER HAD ANY COMPLAINTS. I TOLD HIM I WAS A CHILD OF GOD AND WOULD NEVER LIE .. RIGHT BEFORE HE LEFT HE TOLD ME SINCE I WAS A CHILD OF GOD THAT I BETTER ASK HIM TO HELP ME LOSE SOME WEIGHT. I PRAY DR. FAIRBANKS SEES HIS FAULTS. HE DOES NOT NEED TO PRACTICE ANY MORE HIS DAYS ARE OVER GIVE UP THE MEDICAL LICENSE . NEVER HAVE I BEEN TREATED THIS UGLY.. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO HIM. YOU WILL REGRET IT AFTER YOUR 3RD VISIT.

My husband was referred here by PCP for pain management. Every time we go for his appointment we wait a minimum of an hour to be called back. Then they have put us in the cast room twice with another patient in the same room. He overprescribes the pain medicine for my husband. This guy is a real quack. Dont go here!!!!!

I see what everyone is talking about when it comes to him not giving you the time to talk to him for 20 minutes. The problem is, is people dont understand when a business owner has more than you can imagine that they have to deal with. I could tell as soon as he walked into my room that he was a very busy man. My husband and I got into a car accident 11/21/18. I've been on an unbearable amount of pain since then. Dr Fairbanks has been the only doctor that has helped me. I'm so on board with him and will follow his advice that he gives me along my journey of getting back to being pain free!! Thank you Dr Fairbanks!!

Ive been having muscle and joint pain most of my life. My doctor at the time referred me to Dr.Fairbanks, and my very first visit was him bending my knees and looking at my legs and asking if I can feel them the same amount on both sides and telling me to go on a diet, and walk 2 miles 7 days a week. (Ive been active my whole life even while being over weight, Im not a lazy person ) gained weight after getting married and having kids but still exercised, I had recently lost 24lbs). 2nd visit, Xrays, and Kept telling me to lose more weight. 3rd visit, saying my bones are fine ( which I knew my bones are fine ). Dr. Fairbanks dosnt wanna hear your side of the story, I guess he thinks everyone wants to have excuses or something but I tried to tell him that arthritis runs in my family and Im a very active person but hed never allow me to speak so I just sat there quietly and after that last visit I never went back and Im not going to because Im wasting my time and gas going over there. Also the staff was rude and didnt seem to know what theyre talking about. Worst doctor visit Ive ever had.

Weve been here for 3.5 hours and have yet to see a doctor. I guess this doctor believes that as long as he has the patient in a exam room, all is well. Well i hate to bust his bubble because we r about to leave. His staff shouldn't schedule patients if this over the hill doc cant handle the patient load.

I think Dr Fairbanks was pretty awesome. He was matter of fact, yet very informative .He told me that I need to lose some weight- I do!He suggested quit smoking- I AM !Bones will not heal properly If we smoke. It's just a healthy choice to quit.He suggest that I walk- I am starting tomorrow . He doesn't sugar coat.I agree and will give 100% to all he suggested.I want to feel better and will definitely do MY part

My review is very much like many others on here. Really wish I'd read these review's before going. Rude unprofessional condescending. Did not review my medical chart. Start his evaluation of my condition with. Get off the couch more. Get a job. Lose weight. (I'm a stay home mom and elder care giver) I defended myself by replying that I have worked since I was 14 years old. (Im 43 now) He became agitated at that point and scolded me like a child how he is 63 and works every day. How he was doing me a favor cause it's his Christian duty to help me a poor Medicaid patient. How no other doctor will see me cause they are affraid of losing their license if they do?? He said Medicaid is very strict and has set guide lines. That he couldn't order a MRI for me even if he wanted to. That my xray looked good and nothing was wrong with my hips or spine. I've had previous xrays that showed degeneration and fused disc at L5 and sacrum joint. He told me no treatment would help me because Im over weight. And lord forbid if i did need steroid injections. I cut his rant off . I HAVE had injection for inflamation, Its in my chart. He just skip over that and went back to if he ordered a MRI I'd have to find a place that would do it cause I won't fit in his machine. He asked if I finished high school and told me to go back to school and get a easy job. I rebutted again sitting also aggrivates nerve/sciatica pain. And again he skipped over my medical facts and went back to lecturing me how I need to help myself and walk 2miles a day every day no eccuses. And because he is such a good Christian he was going to prescribe me a pain reliever. I told him I didn't want pain killers that I feel my condition of never pain and muscle spasms could be treated with a non narcotic like muscle relaxers. And he got mad again told me how he is double board certified and ask if I'd like to hear what he thought would help me. He gave a diet plan a pain killer script( I did fill) and a referral to a weight loss clinic. Numbness in my leg and falls from such was never discuss as I wasn't really allowed to speak.

Very stern Dr. I travelled from Anacoco La. To visit his office. Upon meeting, he merely said, I needed to loose weight. I agree at that time I needed to. However, his bed side manner was absolutely unprofessional. After seeing him. I choose not to go back to see him. I can now say, I have lost weight and I am doing phonmoinal. Dr. Fairbanks was correct. His delivery of what was said was wrong. I was not going to him to get medication. I went to him about my medical condition. I was born with spastic dysplasia cerebral palsy......

Dr. Fairbanks has been an EXCELLENT Dr to me. He didn't just throw a bunch of pills at me like other were doing. He talks about having strong Faith & praying a lot which is awesome & you RARELY hear that from anybody much less Drs. Dr. Fairbanks has already done 1 epidural injection in my lower back & his staff & him were so caring towards me the entire time-before, during, & after. His staff is always very friendly towards me every time I have an appt or any time I call with a question. Those who have given Dr. Fairbanks a bad review on here are probably the ones who want the pills & he wouldn't just throw them out to them like other pain management Drs do. If I could give him 10 Or even 20 stars, I most definitely would. For him & his staff & the staff down in the surgery center where they do the injections as well. All very helpful & friendly. Thank you Dr. Fairbanks & staff.

Went to this dr. What others say about him is pretty much true. He never took time to look at my medical history. He never showed interest in my the fact I have had 3 TIA's (Mini Strokes) insisted I work myself up to walking 2 miles a day. He barely looks at my xrays and says they're normal when I have been diagnosed by a prior physician with degenerative disc and facet joint disease yet he said my whole problem is my weight when my back issues is why I am over weight. The only thing he did half right is upped the dose on one of my meds and added a muscle relaxer to my regimen.

August 2, 2018Dear Sir or Madam:FILE A COMPLAINT: AGAINST DR. FAIRBANKSOn Thursday, August 2, 2018 @ 11:00AM I had a scheduled appointment with Dr. Fairbanks at the River Park Medical Center in Vidalia, LA. The reasons were that I was referred by the Winnsboro Clinic due to me having severe pain in my lower back, which runs down the back, my buttock, my right leg down to my feet. As a new patient of Dr. Fairbanks, he was very rude, unconcern, and unprofessional. He enters the examination room without a nurse, knocking, speaking, introducing himself, or any record of my medical history, or the information that I had to bring upon my doctor visit. Dr. Fairbanks just walked into the examination room and said, 'How do you rate your pain?' I said, 'Dr. Fairbanks you didn't even ask me what was wrong, or the location of my pain.' He stated that he didn't need all of that, he just wanted me to rate the pain. I said right now about an 8. Dr. Fairbanks had no pen or paper on hand. Dr. Fairbanks stated that I needed an x-ray, I asked how I am going to get an x-ray and all he asked was to rate my pain. He still requested that I get an x-ray. I stated to Dr. Fairbanks I couldn't take an x-ray because I am expecting. He still requested that I get an x-ray and I refused. Dr. Fairbanks then asked me to take off my pants and left the examination room. When he entered the room again he asked me why I hadnt taken off my pants. I said I'm not taking off my pants. He said not your panties I said your pants. Once again, I told Dr. Fairbanks I wasn't taken off my pants. He left the room. I called my husband immediately, while sitting in the examination room I told him what had happened. Dr. Fairbanks told me to get out in a rude and mean way. I said okay, and I left. I feel as a new patient of Dr. Fairbanks he has violated my rights. I feel as a new patient of Dr. Fairbanks my rights was also violated. I pray that Dr. Fairbank does not get paid, or Medicaid gets billed because the only service rendered was the nurse taking my vital sign (blood pressure). Having to pay someone to take me to my appointment whereas was a waste of my money. Dr. Fairbanks was in VIOLATION OF MY RIGHTS! Dr. Fairbanks needs to be FIRED, LICENSE REVOKED, and NEVER TO PRACTICE IN THE STATE OF L.A. AGAIN.To God Be the Glory, Leslie Alexander, P.O. BOX 236, NEWELLTON, LA 71357

The worse place I've ever been to. We drove 3.5hrs to get here then they make us wait 3hrs before we are seen. The doctor comes in finally and sends us down stairs for x-rays where we sit for another hour before we get x-rays taken then head back upstairs to wait for results. Almost 5 hrs in this place mostly just sitting and waiting. The staff was very rude. I recommend going somewhere else if u can!!

Very rude staff & dr. He didnt even exam anything just checked reflexes in the knee. They told my girlfriend to take off her shorts he was going to check her lower back that never happened. Well she was sent a letter in the mail saying if she didnt lose 10 lbs a month he wouldnt see her anymore, well let me just tell you this theyre are people in here twice her size. I had enough so I came to the visit this time we waited longer than it took for him to come in & say good day! I wouldnt send anyone here. Its a shame a pain management dr, primary care, neurologist, cardiologist etc. can not figure out why she has such pitting edema in her legs.

If there was a no star at all I would still try to find something worse. That man unworthy of having the title Dr. Is the rudest person and doctor I have EVER met. He not only shouldn't deal with people with chronic pain he should not practice AT ALL. It's sad that I like many others waited a long time to even find someone who would treat chronic pain that takes Medicaid instead of feeling relieved I was disgusted. He ask nothing about my medical history cared less about my chief problems and only did so much as raise my arm the 1st appointment the 2nd appointment he check my reflexes in my wrist because I was referred for carpal tunnel. The third appt he came in the room screaming that he is not going to pump me up with pain pills so I can lay around and get fatter. He told me not to return to him for anything for pain without me losing 20lbs first. If he cared or gave me a opportunity to say anything without him rudely and loudly interrupting he would have known more about my conditions and lack of exercise there of nevertheless I came to him to get some relief so that I could be more active in my daily routines without feeling hopeless & helpless. He added to my pain mentally & physically. I wish Medicaid could sue him for every penny he has gotten from them for doing absolutely nothing but degrading and prescribing bare minimum pain medicine to me of whom lives with chronic pain. All he prescribed me was tramadol. My last appointment with him he wrote me off as a patient. The secretary said come back as needed. He didnt prescribe me anything.

I seen this DR for over a year I done everything he ask of me, walking miles a day, lost 65 pds even winged myself off of meds... I stayed consistently updating my dr with Every change of medicine. I never expected any medication tht wasnt first approved by his office. When I went to the dr after falling out of a truck I was treated like a rope head and talked to like a child !
