There's a reason why this has two out of five stars... Horrible place the people are exceptionally rude especially on the phone... If they don't want to work there they should quit! If you go to the r plan on spending at least 8 or 9 hours until they can find out what's going on with you. I wouldn't take a sick dog there!

DePaul Hospital has always treated me with respect, the Doctors seem genuinely concerned and do everything in their power to get you back on your feet and functioning. I rate them with 5 stars!

I have been at DePaul 3 times for near death situation and have only the highest regard for the facility from Er personal, to nurses, nurses assistants , staff docs, tech. facility people. Top notch each and everyone.

Doctor omar was a major bully gave out meds and adivcs that game ot nothing to do with what my primary suggested . no fluids only gave oral meds and kick you out if disagree with anything anyone said . just a evil and horrible doctor. Ghetto floor couldn't sleep loud big area hallway just throw the whole floor away and try again. Some nurses cared and reallh took pride in themselves and jobs. Hate that these rotten Apple's gives them a baad rep they do not deserve this.

Horrible facility! The staff here are so rude and uncooperative. I remember being treated for my asthma attack back in February. Waited 6 hours in the ER before getting scans and given prednisone. Got slapped with a bill PLUS a physician bill just eating my checks away. Since Im such a good boy and willing to pay my debts, I figured it wouldnt hurt they helped me out too. I called back today for the physician I saw because an employee contracted COVID-19 and Im at high risk due to my asthma. I need a note stating I cannot return to work because of my condition. I asked kindly on the phone if I can speak to him and the representative was so rude! Basically told me we are not a primary care facility go see one, theres nothing we can do for you in the most condescending attitude ever. Screw this place.

My niece wanted to deliver her baby at Missouri Baptist (excellent service)but was bamboozled into delivering at Depaul because they have a new maternity ward. Who cares about how nice it is when the service and level of care don't match. From the nurses to dietary, the experience was one that no one should ever have to deal with while bringing a life into the world. Any mother knows how much pain, sweat and tears go into birthing a human and her experience was unacceptable. There was no compassion given by the staff and her experience was that much more worse becuase the father of the baby was not able to be present due to his untimely death. We we're informed to speak to a charge nurse about our experience in which she blew us off and told us to call the 'the manager ' tomorrow. We will be doing just that.

'Hold your place in the ER online'Apparently it doesn't say exactly that on their website and I was misunderstanding what it said. Going further and reading their terms of service on this option it confirms that it is a projected treatment time and actual times may vary. I was told that all that is false and a misconception on my part. That even though I could have come in an hour ago, that site was simply used to speed up registration(then why make me wait an hour and 15 mins? ) and that I would start at the back of the line. Well... you definitely earned your 2.3 stars DePaul

We have had a great experience with DePaul hospital and the Doctors associated with DePaul. Recently my husband had cataract surgery at the ground floor surgery center and the staff and Dr Jones were awesome. I recently had a colonoscopy at the second floor surgery center and was very impressed with the staff and Dr. McDonough. We would both recommend DePaul to our family and friends. Thank you!!

Checked in at Midnight still by 11am still sitting on the waiting room. Very dislikable personal and no update on time. Still haven't been called in. And by the way they were less than 7 patient waiting. If you plan to spend all your day here this is your place. If not go somewhere else.

Criminals. i walked on a treadmill for 10 minutes for a stress test and they charged me $5600!! never did they say what'd it cost. im more stress by the cost then i was when i walked in, and they'll send it collections and ruin me. NO HEADS UP ON COST. Heres a bottle of water, $100 bill. this should be illegal. If our country had free healthcare they'd charge 10,000. Makes me hate my country.

Dad transferred here from another rural hospital. They are short staffed, rude, there is no communication. He has been here two nights, still not been admitted, and they have given us zero information that we didnt already know. Absolute garbage. My family will never set foot in this hospital again.

They have the worse ER. Don't feed their patients.(cold breakfast, NO LUNCH, asked the nurse three times about my brothers dinner) , nurses spend lots of time socializing at there station. We were their 17 hours. No one knew when he would get a room. Another lady was complaining about there loved one as well.

There is no point of completing on online reservation because upon arrival you will be asked all of the same information you completed in your online reservation. I thought the online reservation would be easier and quicker...NOT. I arrived at 5pm was taken back to get my vitals at 6pm. After vitals were complete an iv was inserted and I was sent to the waiting room to wait an additional 2 hours. Once in a room the nurse came in put a blood pressure cuff on my arm and said the doctor will be right with you. The nurse practitioner came in 2 hours later. I didn't have a pillow, wasn't offered a drink of water, in fact no one came in the room for 2 hours. After i saw the nurse practitioner he ordered a breathing treatment which happened immediately, a chest x-ray which happened immediately, and a CT scan of my back that didn't happen until i pressed the call light an hour later to tell the nurse to take the IV out of my arm because i was leaving. I was there from 5pm- 11:30pm and still didn't get any answers for my pain. I live 5 minutes from Depaul Hospital, but I would rather drive 20 to go to Mercy next time.

Been in the ER for over 16 hours. Staff at the front has told me Im SIXTH in line to be seen. If you want to get treated, especially if you want to get treated in a REASONABLE amount of time, go to Mercy or one of the Lake St Louis hospitals.

I don't even like giving this place one star. This has to be the worst hospital in the state of Missouri. My doctor sent me here to get IV antibiotics. She called ahead of time. And I sat in the waiting room for 7 hrs. Another hour in the er room before receiving antibiotics. They had me in the computer for something totally different and unrelated. And the doctor was extremely rude. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL!!!

They provide compassionate care! That is laughable! They don't know the meaning of that word. I arrived by an inadequate ambulatory service to this God forsaken place! I had a bad fall at the airport. I couldn't move my left arm and couldn't stand. I was there 2 hrs before I had xrays done. Except for lying on the table there, I spent the rest of my 7 hrs there with no help, and I had to ask to go to the restroom. I asked for food because I am a diabetic and they said no without compassion. I asked for something for my pain, and again it was no!. I finally was able to walk with the help of my carry-on. I called a cab and they came in and got me and took me to a hotel where I was finally able to lie down on a bed! I spent seven terrible hours in the waiting room in a chair. I wouldn't go there again if I was dying!!

Wow just got back from the ER, what an experience. My brother arrived by ambulance because being a danger to himself and others and not taking his prescribed medicine. Debris all over the floor and my brother waited over 6 hours, IN THE HALL on a stretcher bed waiting to be evaluated. We finally left after the 7th hour, after the nurse assured us he would be eventually be seen and possibly be omitted. Called back early the next day and they stated they could not even tell me if he was there as a patient and stated they do not know where he is! Horrible service. They need to be shut down and restructured to be for the people that use their services

I was here today to get a cheaper prescription for my pink eye. I came this morning and the doctor prescribed me very expensive ointment I cant afford because I dont have insurance and the wait in the emergency department is very long and I was already having a bad day but Melissa , a paramedic here at DePaul turned my day upside down I told her thank you but I really want her and everybody to know that she really cares about the patients that comes in and out of this hospital. Have a great day Melissa

Wife was admitted to DePaul Hospital's ER via ambulance transport on 11/22/19, at, or around 6pm. Prior to admittance, she had collapsed at home from lethargic symptoms, as well as high fever. After a test for vitals, we (including the patient) were told to sit out in the ER waiting area. This night, by even the nursing staffs own words, was a particularly slow night, with a small amount of people needing attention. My question is, how could a woman, who was brought into the hospital, obviously dehydrated due to not eating, fever, and chapness around the eyes and mouth, and almost non responsive the entire time waiting, be deemed non-critical than other patients? After 2hrs. of waiting, we asked staff, why are we waiting this long, when her condition is dire, and there aren't many people waiting??? We were told there weren't many rooms available. Yet, you take back people who were obviously under the influence of substances (in which they probably chose) and deemed by staff as 'suicidal', even after coming in after us. After 4+hrs waiting we were finally given a room in the ER dept. The first ER doctor, an African American doctor (medium build, appeared 30-35), sent her to get an ultrasound. He determined there wasn't any fluid in her belly, as she's had issues with that in the past. He recommended she go to SLU hospital, and wanted to remain hands off for some inexplicable reason. We told the staff we wanted to remain at DePaul, as it was closer to our residence. After hours, and hours, another African American doctor came in (heavy build, and glasses) and recommend she also go to SLU hospital, because her liver specialist that usually treat her we're there. Again, it was late, and we chose to stay at DePaul. We didn't get a room until 5am, almost 12hrs upon arrival!!!! The next day, I come to my wife's room, and she is still lethargic, dehydrated, and out of it, no IV or anything to help her, just laying there. Talking to the nurses, they said that she would be transported to SLU later in the evening. NO ONE ASKED ME OR HER PERMISSION TO BE TRANSPORTED!!!!! Come to find out, after going and being treated at SLU, my wife was suffering from a UTI bacterial infection that transferred into her bloodstream. THIS COULD'VE BEEN FATAL. Why couldn't doctors and staff at DePaul have made this determination, and why was she not treated for 24hrs (ER time, until arrival at SLU). The actions by staff at DePaul were beyond unacceptable, unprofessional, and to me, put my wifes life in danger, due to laziness, primarily by doctors on staff. I will never visit this hospital again, as long as I can help it. Surgeons have helped my family in the past, but beyond that, medical care has been insufficient on the primary care side, and ER side for my family. UNACCEPTABLE.

A loved one was tranfered here to the North wing for behavioral/mental health. Our family was never contacted about the transfer to a new hospital so it took time to find her. Once I was finally able to be transferred to her I find out that after 2 days she has not been given any information on what shes allowed to do, what her situation is, nor seen a doctor yet, no showers, no change of clothes out of the paper ones she was given 2 days ago, and there's been no one to tell us or her if we are allowed to bring her clothes or books. This is not the first person I've personally seen treated this way at this hospital and had I known of the plans to transfer to here I would have fought it. Both individuals have been treated like this and I can not fathom how this could possibly help depression or suicide.

This hospital is terrible! My mother was taken to DePaul via ambulance due to chest pain and has experienced these symptoms for the last several days. An EKG was completed on the ambulance and she was given aspirin. We waited for over an hour before another EKG was completed in the ER then waited an additional 4 hours before her vitals were taken. We waited a total of five and a half hours and our mother still had not been seen by a doctor. My sisters and I decided to leave DePaul and take her to Mercy where she was immediately evaluated. In fact, upon our arrival to Mercy, we saw several other patients who had left DePaul to come to Mercy. Everyone was immediately sent to triage and sent to the exam rooms in the back to see the doctor.

I had outpatient surgery on my elbow, cubicle tunnel release and ulnar nerve repositioned. The check in staff were very professional and nice smiling and had great attitudes. The preoperative nurses were very professional and understanding of my needs checked in with me every 10 to 15 min.The anesthesia dr and nurses were very compassionate, gave me choices ,and welllll I should've taken their advice and done a nerve block instead. The recovery nurses went above and beyond to help me with pain ,and made sure I was ready to go before I was pushed out the door.I would return and reccomend their department for future purposes. I give kudos to all involved with my care. As far as my dr sadu I love her to death ,young full of energy and she took time even though it was a bit longer than expected. She updated my family promptly .Thank you DePaul staff for taking care of all my surgery needs.Heidi lacasse.

Worst hospital in St. Louis other than Christian Northeast.. 14 hr emergency room wait when you have a sickle cell crisis.. Nurses or staff could care less, especially when you are black, white people with non life threatening illnesses are seen an discharged before you're even thought of..

This place should be shut down. If you have any emergency dont go here unless you want to wait 7 hours even when brought in by ambulance. The er staff is completely rude and treat you like your nothing but wasting their time. They had people bleeding in the waiting room for hours, it's so dirty in there. Inhumane is a better word. Arrived at 8pm taken back at 1230 got a room at 8am the next day to start doing tests. Over a heart and back related issues. Something needs to change I hate even giving this place 1 star the deserve none.

Every time I have had the unfortunate event of coming here I tell myself not again. The wait is ridiculous and they never have any information. When your loved one was transported via ambulance to be observed all night and its been 7 hours and no doctor or bed or information being available is absolutely ridiculous. And no end in sight!

Been here 10 hours, without so much as a Tylenol or a cup of water, I'm 27, every joint in my body is flared up, this is the second time I've been here this week with no diagnosis, the doctor who was looking at me forgot to order my meds before leaving for the night, so they put an IV in my arm and attached it to nothing, moved me to an isolated room and they are now refusing to give me any form of medication. I pressed the bathroom button for 20 minutes and hollered out the open door to get help to bathroom since I can't walk, nurse FINALLY showed up & just brought me a bottle and didn't attempt to assist or communicate whatsoever. After and IF I'm finally diagnosed tomorrow, I will definitely be seeking treatment elsewhere and contacting an attorney immediately. Please don't go here for your own sake, and please do not bring your children here.

I broke the joint in my elbow on March 13, 2013. For my surgery, they had to cut into my arm near the elbow and put it back together. The surgery itself went smoothly. One second I was awake in the operating room, the next I was awoken shivering in the recovery room. There was a nurse right there who brought me an extra blanket. I get back to my room and ate a bag of pretzels only to get sick a few minutes later. They stitched me up and put me in a half cast. I had to go back a few weeks later to get the stitches removed. I've never broken a bone, so I have never needed stitches so I didn't know what they were supposed to look like during and after they're taken out. I thought it looked awful. As the wound healed and an ugly looking scar developed, I thought it looked very sloppy. Even all of my close friends and family agreed that it isn't supposed to look like that (including some nurses). I waited it out to see if maybe it would change, but 5 years later and it still looks the same. I also noticed the bone in my elbow sticks out significantly more than my other elbow and every time I extend my arm I feel it pop and I don't know if that is how it's supposed to be, but I know for sure the scar should not have healed looking that way. I heard a lot of negative comments on DePaul and they have a bad rap as far as I know, but I just hoped they would fix me. Even though they technically did; it was sloppy work and I don't think the surgeon knew all of what they were doing or they just didn't care. I wish I knew that surgeons name. I will update this review if/when I find out. if you can go to a different hospital, I would. Now I have to go on with an ugly looking scar on my body for the rest of my life because I trusted the wrong person/place.

Went to the urgent care with extreme abdominal pains. I was told they couldnt treat me and would transfer me to a hospital, the nearest being DePaul. Sat in the waiting room for 2hrs before I saw a nurse to give my symptoms. Gave urine to see that I was passing kidney stones because u could see them in my urine. I have now been sitting in the ER for 6hrs waiting to get in the back. Im in extreme pain and just sitting here. Im leaving and will never in my life come back to this hospital. This is ridiculous

You took very poor care of my Brother in the ER after the Doctor Un bandaged both feet one being a recent amputee, he told my brother he was going to admit him . Then 45 mins later the nurse informed him that they were not and that they had called him a cab. He had to practically begged the nurse to re-wrap his foot the other foot he said just put a sock on it. My brother has diabetes & congested heart failure, he was retaining fluid and couldnt breathe but they didnt care.He had no shoes, no shirt no wallet because he had come in the ambulance and they put him in a cab at 11 oclock at night and sent him home, no cane, no walker . They are lucky I live 13 hours away.

This place has the worst care in St. Louis. The nurses in the ICU dont do their job but play on their phones and goof around. My mom was in the icu for a stroke with apparent no brain activity and I asked them to do a CAT scan and to come get me when they were done. I was waiting in the waiting area. I waited for about an hour and I just wanted to see what was taking so long and when I looked into the room my mom was there but had blood on her hands and legs. I was furious and went to the nurse overseeing it but she said she doesnt know it wasnt there fought and my mom mustve pulled the cords out herself to make her bleed so I said I thought she didnt have brain activity to do stuff like this and why wasnt no one watching her in this hour long wait they didnt get me. End result she passed but never in my life will I go to this stupid hospital again.

I recently had my 92 year old mother sent to Depaul by ambulance as a result of fall. Upon our arrival I immediately noticed that it was literally packed within the Emergency Room. I also noticed that they had removed my mother from within the confines of the ER and placed her in a wheelchair back in the ER lobby without having done any type of initial triage to ascertain if she had any type of broken bones. My mother had fallen a year before and had broken her femur which was explained to the EMS team prior to her ambulance conveyance.I will say after we arrived and after some questioning she was then expeditiously seen by the triage nurse and they immediately did a full X-ray workup on her. However, my 92 year old mother came out of the X-ray facility literally in tears saying that she was trying to explain she was in intense pain and never should have received more assistance. She was then told to remain in the lobby until she was called to be seen by a Dr. From that point on we literally sat in the ER waiting for well over 9 hours before being seen by a physician. It was very obvious too that the nurses at the front desk although very professional in manner were quite stressed.Im retired military and all I could think of was what if this had been a natural disaster or an influx of patients as a result of a horrific accident. I do understand that this was after the July 4th holiday but with that being said thats where preplanning comes into mind. I over heard a nurse state that the hospital bed was at full capacity and therefore they could not send ER patients once stabilized to a room. Again then you should have some way of letting walk-in ER patients know the wait time so they can have alternative choices. I observed a man literally go into a seizure while waiting in the ER on 5 July 2019. I observed another female pass out in the restroom which required a security response just to get her out of the bathroom. She had been there well over 9 hours as well. We arrived around 11:00 am that morning and and my mother wasnt released until 1:15 am the next day. The attending physician was very apologetic and fortunately after all that time it was discovered my mother did not have any broken bones only severe bruising. I will say had someone like a PA or a LPN reviewed her initial xrays the initial assessment could have been done expeditiously and a script written for pain. In my opinion the entire Depaul ER process needs to be looked at and streamlined for better service to its patients. Here are some recommendations:First and foremost in addition to using the triage method track the patients initial sign in time. I would say no one should ever be sitting in the ER waiting area any longer than 3-4 hours max. Have follow on PA or LPNs routinely briefing patients as to each his or her status while in the triage area waiting for treatment.Establish contingency plans for potential peak times around holidays and severe cold seasons.Provide mounted televisions within all waiting room areas.Ensure your front desk is well staffed and has a well lighted area at all times when receiving patients. Ensure the ER bathrooms both within the ER and within the waiting area are kept extremely clean at all times. Ensure the cleaning staff consistently sanitizes wheelchairs when being stored in storage areas for patients. Patients and caretakers typically dont have gloves and those germs are routinely being spread from sick to non-sick patients during a patient conveyance.Ensure all the phone charging stations are operable. Remember families are trying to make contact to love ones during medical emergencies. Ensure you always have enough staff within the ER, place additional staff on call for peak times.Have designated quarantine areas for folks with coughs and severe colds. Mask should be handed to a patient after the desk is notified of the ailment.Ensure the intercom system is working and audible within the the main ER waiting areas and outside at the entrance doors saves time.

In the emergency room with a friend. Registered with InQuicker, that used to make a difference but not anymore apparently. Been here and signed in for 2 hours now. 'Appointment' time was an hour and a half ago. Staff at the nursing desk for a little more than a half hour joking. No emergencies, no ambulance arrivals. And that's what they call being busy. So now to edit this, my friend was admitted unfortunately, the nurses .... except one, so far have been rude and defensive. CNA's can't be bothered to empty a damned urinal. I'll contact supervisors but based on what we've experienced so far I don't have high hopes, then joint commission needs to be contacted.
