I have been a patient at Westlake Dermatology for more than 3 years and I would choose to go no where else for all my skin care issues. Dr. Flynn is caring, dedicated and professional and the staff is excellent. I have recommend Westlake Dermatology and specifically Dr. Flynn to friends and relatives because of my confidence in knowing they will receive excellent care.

I went in for help and they referred me to another location, said that office would contact me. When a week passed I decided to follow up. My call was transferred to the downtown location only to be told they didnt have my information and would have to contact the other location. Another week and a half passed and still no call, so I once more followed up and was told the same. Third time is the charm right? Nope. Same results. I expected great service and care but was met with a dissatisfying experience.

I had my 6 month checkup with Dr. Kevin Flynn a couple weeks ago to check for pre-cancerous areas. He saw that I had a large cut on my ankle from shaving my legs. His nurse Natalia (RN, BSN) cleaned and put a new dressing on the wound. I am to change the bandage twice a day and apply the antibiotic that was ordered. She and Dr. Flynn were concerned, caring, and efficient.

My husband and I both see Dr. Flynn a couple of times a year to check for pre-cancers due to overexposure to sun when we were younger. We've been going for sone years now. Dr. Flynn is always personable while being professional and thorough. The office is very well run and I can't ever remember being kept waiting for long at all.

I am extremely disappointed. Saw a doctor this morning and was told that prescription will be sent to my pharmacy. I double asked since I saw posted reviews and wanted to make sure that it will be done. I was supposed to have it ready after work. Called my pharmacy and they never received it. Called North Austin location to learned that it is still pending, front desk team did not know why, people who are responsible already left. My face and neck are getting worst and I believe that's not what I paid for. I would never recommend this place to anybody. If you have truly urgent situation, please, please don't even waste your time to go there, you will not receive medication on time anyway.

They never return phone calls or refill prescription when pharmacy AND patient calls multiple times and leaves messages during the week. Was told I'd get a call back today-didn't happen! Very unprofessional. Also didn't have record of medication on file despite going in 1 month ago for an appointment exactly for this reason! Was told there would be 11 refills put on account. Now it's the weekend where I'm out of medication. Thank you so much for this.

I have been a patient/friend of Dr. Covermann the doctors doctor for 45 years. His knowledge and quest for constant new knowledge is above and beyond. How fortunate for those of us who have found him. Thank you Dr. Fred Hansen for recommendating him another friend of 55 years.

I've been seeing Dr. Hart for over a year and she has given me so much confidence back in my skin. I'm so grateful to her, I had no idea how amazing she could get my skin looking and feeling, I wish I had met her sooner. I've also found that I've saved money that I wasted trying so many different products for so long that never worked. I've seen several dermatologists, but Dr Hart has been by far the best, I would recommend her to anyone.

Very nice office and staff, but egregiously expensive. I had 3 warts on my fingertips frozen. The treatment didn't work (in fairness to the doctor, he said it was a 50/50 shot). I asked what my bill would be before I had the appointment - they said there's no way to know, it has to go through insurance (for which I am in network). I finally got the bill and its a $148.70 new patient fee, plus a $213.82 lesion destruction fee. Insurance covered an arbitrary amount of that (woo USA), so I ended up paying $196 dollars for an ineffective, 2 minute treatment. The office and staff were very nice, but getting a surprise $200 bill and just as many warts as I came in with sucks. A $150 'new patient' fee seems like it should be illegal - or at the very least, let me know upfront so I can take my business literally anywhere else.

Great first experience at a dermatologist. I was super anxious but everyone was totally awesome. Dr. Singletary was great! She checked some things out for me and explained things to me in a really clear and calming way. I appreciated that. Front area was clean and relaxing. Oh and I was really thankful for that water when I checked in :) Easy online scheduling and my checkin/checkout was fast.

It is always a pleasant experience to go to Westlake Dermatology for my 6 month checkup. I know I will be seen on time and usually ahead of time. I have never had to wait for an appointment. From the front desk to the checkout desk, everyone is very friendly. Dr. Flynn is a top notch doctor. He has lots of experience and can diagnose things going on that you never suspected. He is also fun to be around. I give them 10 stars!

Nine Locations in Austin, wow! I am not sure how long all these locations have been open in Austin but I feel certain considering the quality of the physician I have known for 25 years (Have not seen in a LONG time however); my mouth is always open at his intelligence, openness, patience, and compassion, and the willingness to talk to you on a level you understand. He was willing to see me when he is about to retire,(CORRECTION: Glad to hear he is not retiring!!!!!) my only regret not having seen Dr. Kevin Flynn sooner! A huge loss to the Austin and surrounding areas community in Dermatology, but I feel certain the quality of the other Westlake providers just as high!!! I cannot believe there are more reviews. In regards to complaints about cosmetology, I only know having come from 33 years of a Healthcare Business background, that the providers do not get reimbursed by insurances anywhere close to where they should for the amount of work, stress, (yes they are paid with a formula which includes stress), and overhead of the working that they provide and cosmetics is probably the only way they can survive without getting sucked up by a huge Managed care conglomerate or getting pid pennies by Medicare (sorry for a negative here but it is so true!). Or still paying off their Student loans however many moons later. Love love, Sharon Meredith

The waiting room is real nice BUT the absence of no cell phons signs and staff not taking care of the noisey very loud patient who was on the phone all the time about his problems is a real put off. This makes the waiting room very stressful when it should be relaxing you for your visit.

Dr. Flynn and his staff are really amazing. They make you feel welcome and comfortable. Going the doctor can be an ordeal, especially with a dermatologist. Skin cancer is on the rise, among other ailments. Dr. Flynn has always been cheerful, funny, and always has a positive vibe for everyone. He makes me laugh, and I enjoy his banter. I go to the location up north, in Renaissance, by St. Davids. He and his staff are the best, and so are the beautiful ladies up front, whose cheerful smiles are warm and happy. For once a doctor you like going to see, right?! ;-)

I don't know what is going on with the office at this location but it is an absolute mess. It has been an horrible experience trying to get a prescription filled. It has taken months 3 to be exact to get blood work sent over to my PCP and to get a refill. As apologetic as they have been you would think things would get fixed. I do not recommend going to this location.

I was a patient of Dr. Flynn's, who I actually enjoyed visiting. He is kind and thorough. However, after leaving 4 unanswered voicemails (over the course of a week) for the office staff in regards to obtaining a prescription refill, I changed to a different dermatology practice. I've had better luck with communication at other locations in Austin, but they're not convenient for me. Everyone I was able to speak to was nice enough, but the ignored phone calls are unacceptable to me.

Really unimpressed with this place. My Medical Assistant was incredibly uninformed and had me come to the office before all of my papers were in order. I had to pay 150.00 just for them to tell me they needed more stuff from my other doctor. I switched to a different Westlake location and am much happier. Don't go here, they are very unorganized.

Hey all, I looked in the mirror this morning, got pissed off and decided to write a review. I went here about a year ago with moderate acne and a few scars. It wasn't that bad, but I really wanted clear skin so I came to Westlake Dermatology. They told me that a skin peel should clear my acne up, at least cut it down by 50%, and that if I came in 3-4 times a year it would keep my acne in check. So I did it, and boy do I regret that now. The skin peel was of moderate strength in all places except my trouble spots, she used a stronger acid or acid concentration for those. My acne cleared up significantly for about 3 weeks and then came back in full force, ever since the treatment, every single pimple I have had where my 'trouble spots' were, aka where she used a more harsh acid, have scarred... even if I don't pick them and even if I use topical anti inflammatory drugs (my last resort to avoid scars). She was a real salesman, I told her I only wanted to use organic products to avoid polysorbates and other compounds... she knew I was thinking in terms of USDA Organic and of course went on to tell me that all their products were organic, she failed to mention that she was talking about the scientific definition of organic (much different).. I should have known that, I can live with it... but what really bothers me is that every time I get a pimple in those few spots, they scar.. it only happens a few times a month, but add that up over a year... and now I am all scarred up. I really regret going here. She pretty much said whatever I wanted to hear... like I said, a salesmen. Do not go here. Seek a Dermatologist that takes a Holistic approach, unless you'd like to suffer the consequences like I have. I think laser treatments to remove scars here... I wouldn't be worried about doing that... but anything with drugs or peels, screw this place... Thanks for wasting my money and ruining my skin guys, much appreciated...

Dr. Flynn is a very well known dermatologist throughout the medical community. He is the most credentialed dermatologist that I could find. I relocated to San Antonio and still travel to Austin for care just for Dr. Flynn. I would recommend you see him if you're in need of a great dermatologist!

DO NOT go here unless you are going for a purely cosmetic reason, and never expect to have a diagnostic issue. I have been losing a substantial amount of hair (more than half my hair in the last 6 months, and I had a tremendous head of hair) and due to regular doctors wanting nothing to do with trying to diagnose, moving for work, and the long wait to get in to see a dermatologist, this was the second derm I saw - the first was in Lincoln who wanted to do a biopsy, but this was right before coming here so there was no time. I was CLEAR before taking the appointment I was looking for a doctor who could make a diagnosis. For 100.00, I got a meeting of about 8 minutes with a doctor who did NOT listen to the key points, BARELY examined my scalp (which is fiery red in the places I am losing my hair) and whose only comments were that since my hair was not coming out at the visit (!!! it generally comes out once a day in the morning, tho it does come out throughout the day as well), she suggested I get the records of blood testing done several months back in IL that I told her I was sure did not take the right tests, and which also came out to be okay! This would have taken months, number one, (I don't know how to quantify the hair loss since this worthless appt., but substantial), to give her an idea of what to do next. How are blood tests that say everything is okay, where she doesn't even know which ones were taken, that will take months to get from another state, tell her what to do when she barely examines me or listens to key points and timeline either? I don't HAVE months! I was clear when I made the appointment. I asked if she wanted to biopsy - no, she didn't know what to biopsy FOR well maybe if you got more than 7.5 minutes for 100.00, she would know, but the other thing is I have a huge ziploc bag full of hair, what about doing some sort of testing on THAT to start with, or ordering some current tests? When I wrote a similar review, the office manager called me. I called back, and after a ridiculous time of being directed to the WRONG voicemail, I later got a message that she would call me back - NEVER occurred. It isn't even the 100.00, though figure it out, for over 600.00 per hour, this lady should be A GENIUS! It is the continued loss of hair, the total apathy during the appointment where there was only a very cursory examination at which she said she thought it looked like a birthmark! If she had further investigated where it goes all the way across the area where I'm losing hair, and onto my neck, anyone can tell it is NOT a birthmark, and it is the only place I am losing hair from, additionally. I also explained my scalp hurt a great deal, and tried to explain other symptoms I am having such as great hair growth on my face, like in a man's pattern, weight gain - there are some things like Cushings disease this could be, for example - Not saying I have that, just saying for the kind of money these doctors earn, I am astonished that a doctor can leave a woman just losing all her hair, which is very traumatic. She may be great at giving Botox or laser for all I know, but she is not a true doctor in any sense of the word

Front office staff, MDs, and MAs/nurses were all polite enough, but there were just too many issues for me to continue working with them. Leaving several messages before a call back, delay after delay working on very time sensitive prescriptions, orders for labs not being written correctly, charges for items I should have been charged for, complaints about my insurance, lack of follow up... all to see my physician for about 5 minutes at each appointment. No real advice or consultation given to me of anything that I could do to improve my condition, just an immediate jump to prescriptions. I have spent so much time and money here only to now be quitting my treatment 5 months in because of so many issues and what just feels like a lack of concern for me and my well being from the staff here and the pharmacy.

I came in to see Dr. Flynn and I cannot tell you enough how satisfied I was, I grew up with no issues with acne but recently at the age of 26 I found my self dealing with cystic acne nothing too serious but definitely noticeable that always brought my self confidence down. Dr.Flynn took the time to to teach me new things I didn't know about about my face , what to use what not to use etc. He then perscribed me on a medication that is gel based , I was worried I was going to have to start some hormonal treatment like most doctors percribe right away! But no he examined my face looked at it carefully answered all my questions and told me how I can make my face better with very easy steps. I am 3 days into the treatment so far it's not a lot (treatment is for 3 months and will need a follow up after I finish) but I am confident I will get through this mostly because Dr.Flynn made me feel very good about my situation. He knew what he was talking and on top of that he was so friendly! Thank you Dr. Flynn! I would def

Went in for skin problems. Diagnosed with contact dermatitis. Gave me a 3 week long prescription. Once off the meds, problem reappeared. Called them 4 times to ask for a return visit or renewal prescription. Got one call after 3 attempts. Said doctor was out. Would call me next day. One week later, still no callback. Left another message. 4 days later, no call. I'm done with them. They didn't fix the problem, now they won't call back. I paid cash money for the visit. What a joke. I'm switching to sanova dermatology. Through with these guys.

I've spent $1400 here, and kept my mouth shut for a while, until today because I didn't want to be that jerk that instantly jumps on here and freaks out. But, today left me with no other choice. I have had 2 syringes of Juviderm injections into my lips. My lips were really thin prior to this, so after about 6 months, I decided to go back today and get a third one. I had been out all night, tending to a friend in the hospital, and my body felt bloated, as it usually does with a lack of sleep and beer consumption. When I spoke with my Dr., she explained that she's not going to give me even close to a full one. Instead, charge me the full $750 for a little tweak on my top lip. This was upsetting, but I let it go just to hear her explanation as she rudly and abrasively 'let me give you a lesson in anatomy, okay?!' And proceeded to harshly explain her reasoning. I then just asked to leave because she wasn't understanding that my lips looked very puffy, especially with the numbing if agent on there. If my lips looked like they did on that office, all day long, id be happy! This isn't the first encounter with he cattiness. The front office secretaries are always rude and short with patience on the phone, they looked at me like I was an alien when I paid with cash, and the nurses always have a shadow student in there watching as you get injected. :( they also told me on the phone that if I didn't use a full syringe, they'd keep the rest of it for me, later. Which I found out was a lie.

Very nice ladies that work at the front desk and nice nurses! I cannot speak on Westlake Dermatology as a whole, but if you are wanting anything done for your acne do not go to Physicians Assistant Debra Gauthier. She was very kind but she honestly did not know what she was doing at all, and I am still paying for it figuratively and literally. Not to mention she talked me into letting her freeze off a couple of bumps on my skin and failed to tell me/ make sure I understood that it was a cosmetic procedure that my insurance would not cover so it would cost a lot of money. (I am a young 23 year old woman so that was my first experience with a procedure of that nature) This was very upsetting to me because I felt she was just trying to get my money. Also, it was almost impossible to reach her over the phone when necessary. Which was extremely inconvenient considering I was on Accutane and had to have constant interaction with her. Being someone who has dealt with acne and multiple dermatologists since I was a teenager, my overall experience with Debra Gauthier was stressful and costly and I do not recommend her.

I would encourage anyone who has a skin problem to find another provider. All these people are interested in is your insurance.....they come at you all friendly and happy, but the problem is that friendly is manners...not care...My skin at this point in time is probably at its worst in several years...If you care about your health, do not present yourself at this institution.
