Dr. Woodward L. Coleman, MD Reviews

Dr Coleman is very knowledgeable and professional. He seemed to do a good job at my surgery, but after I have no contact and have been referred to HealthLink for post-op care and occupational therapy. Dr Coleman refused to see me to remove my stitches and referred me to HealthLink. I just feel that follow up should be with the treating physician. Other than that everything was pleasant.

Dr. Coleman performed my mom's surgery on January 10th. To give a fair review, I have to consider all events of the day and the days following surgery. I will preface this by saying I am a nurse, and I'm aware that humans make mistakes. It's how you deal with those mistakes that matters. This surgery was not emergent. It took several weeks of careful planning and consideration on our part. I wish the staff had also done the same. On the morning of the surgery, approximately 1.5 hours before, it was discovered by Dr. Coleman that someone in the office had neglected to order a crucial part that was to go into my mother's arm. Mistakes happen. We were willing to forgive that. What I personally cannot forgive is not providing a patient with follow up care. Dr. Coleman refers his patients to HealthLink occupational therapy. My husband, also a nurse, accompanied my mom to her first appointment. There, Cindy, the occupational therapist, did not wash her hands or wear gloves. My husband, after setting gloves directly next to her in the hope of her realizing the error without confrontation, had to tell her to stop and put gloves on. She was removing the surgical dressing, where my mom has a fresh surgical incision, with dirty hands and without gloves. She refused and argued with him. This type of incompetence is unacceptable, regardless of Dr. Coleman knowing her for '30 years'. My mom has limited options with her insurance, being a military veteran with VA health insurance. So she called Dr. Colemans office to inform them. HealthLink could not be trusted to remove her stitches. Dr. Coleman is flat out refusing to allow his nurse to remove her stitches because he has referred her out. She has no idea what to do for occupational therapy now. No after care instruction, nothing. And no help from your office whatsoever. Dr. Coleman, we have forgiven your mistakes. We ask that you finish what you started and allow my mom to have her stitches removed at your office by competent staff. Something your nurse said he could easily and would gladly do, but you have said was not allowed. Healthcare is not perfect, but as a provider, more is expected of you than this.

Dr. Coleman and his team are incredible! He was thorough in explaining my options after I broke my finger. I opted for a procedure that required two minor surgeries 6 weeks apart. Due to insurance reasons, the surgeries were scheduled at two different hospitals. Dr. Coleman personally called me the evening before the second surgery to make sure I was aware of the change of venue and make sure I knew exactly where to go (though his team had already taken care of getting me my instructions)! I love his calm demeanor and he did fantastic work on my finger too. A positive experience all around. I highly recommend!

I recently broke my hand. Dr Coleman and his staff are the best. I did not have to wait long while I was there. They were so caring and helpful. The man putting my cast on was so gentle and nice. I would recommend them to anyone. They are the best if the best for sure!

Staff is horrible, don't care, don't call back to follow up with. Oh well, not the only hand doctor in town.

Dr. Coleman and his staff are by far the most wonderful healthcare providers you could ever meet. I gracefully broke my fifth metacarpal and was starting to become terrified because it had been a couple days since the injury and I had not seen a specialist. Dr. Colemans office was the first I had called, it was the one referred to me by two ER doctors, and they also managed to get me seen only an hour and a half after I called! Once getting there I filled out paperwork and was called back in less than 20 minutes. Dr. Coleman examined my X-rays from the ER and saw me shortly after the nurse David cut my splint off. He thoroughly explained what my options were as well as drew pictures to make it easy! Because I was scared out of my mind and sweating at that point (I had never broken anything before), Dr. Coleman took that extra step and even called my father who also works in the medical field to explain the situation! Without further ado, he decided to go for a reduction and then a cast to see where that takes us. My hand was numbed perfectly and in the mean time I was brought water and cookies because the numbing still needed to fully kick in and I was getting more nervous by the minute! In the mean time, the nurse David and two scribes (whos names I unfortunately dont recall) joked and laughed with me, allowing me ease up a bit. Dr. Coleman was able to then pull on my hand, all the while one of the super amazing scribes was holding my elbow down to keep it from moving up as well. You will not believe it, but with my good left hand I was eating my cookies, incredibly satisfied and not feeling a thing!! I felt like a champ but in reality its all because of these amazing, caring folks who truly love what they do. My hand was then wrapped in a cast by David, which honestly is the neatest and most comfortable cast I could ever imagine! I swear its perfect and Ive had no issues for a week now. After the procedure, X-rays were taken again. Dr. Coleman did see something he was not certain about so they opted for me to get a CT scan just in case. David called around, pulled some strings, all the while busy with other patients as well and got me a cheaper option across town the same day!! I went, and a couple days later got a call from Dr. Coleman himself about the results. I go in tomorrow morning for a follow up and x-rays once more to check my progress, but honestly I cant wait to go again! If theres anyone I recommend, it will be these guys. Hands down! No pun intended!

Dr. Coleman has been a blessing to me, one of my closest friends Todd referred me to him. Since March I have been under his care and I am feeling better as the weeks go by. Dr. Coleman takes the time to explain everything! I would highly recommend Dr. Coleman to anyone who is looking for a high quality doctor- Manny Garcia, BSN

About 5 years ago Dr. Coleman saved me and my thumb from another wreckless Dr. He worked with me for months before nothing more could be done but surgery, and when my insurance refused to pay for my surgery the good Dr. Didn't abandant me but work with me and completed the surgery that was a great success. And after 5 years I still feel gratitude to the Dr and want to say thank you again Dr. Coleman I honor you.... D.G .W
