I had the best experience at Dr. Hansen office.. I cannot praised him enough for the great job he did. From my office visit until I had surgery and after. You could not ask for a more professional doctor or place. At the office visit he set explain every option to me and spent plenty of time explaining everything to me. Any questions I had he would answer and did not think that I had any dumb questions. The day of surgery he came to see me and ask me if I had any more questions. I told him I was ready and felt very safe in his hands. After surgery he spoke to my family. The day of discharge he came in and talked to me and I was really pleased with his bedside manner. I am really pleased with the surgery outcome. I am 2 weeks out and am able to to do a lot more things than I thought I would be able to do. I am healing very well and I am so pleased with the outcome of this surgery. Cannot praise him enough for the good job that he has done. Highly recommend him.

Dr. Adam Hansen is an exceptional physician and Thoracic Surgeon. As a former employee, I witnessed on a daily basis his kindness, compassion, professionalism, and respect towards patients, families, and staff. He is friendly, informative and has a lot of experience and knowledge. He takes his time with every single patient to help them in any way he can. I feel honored, blessed, and proud to have been a part of his work family as his secretary. I highly recommend Dr. Hansen to anyone who may require his services, as he truly is an expert in the field of Thoracic Surgery.

After a 2-year search for a diagnose of rib pain, I found Dr. Hansen. I was pretty sure I had SRS so we drove 3 hours for the appointment, where I was diagnosed in his office that day, and scheduled my surgery. Dr. Hansen is very thorough, kind, and genuine, and he really cares about his patients well being, as does his staff. A+

My experience with Dr. Hansen and his staff has been nothing but extraordinary. When I initially contacted Dr. Hansen, I had ongoing, almost unbearable, pain that was only being somewhat controlled with medication. Dr. Hansen spent an unprecedented amount of time on the phone with me explaining what he proposed to do to help me if I did indeed have what he suspected. Up to that point, I had been going from doctor to doctor, having test after test, with almost everyone dismissing my pain/problem and quite frankly ME. When I decided to go see Dr. Hansen, his office was kind enough to schedule me a consultation and to hold a surgery slot for the next day, in the event that I did need to have surgery. This was offered so that I would not have to drive the nine hours back home only to come back later, and I so appreciated that because the drive was excruciating (but ultimately completely worth it!). When we arrived in West Virginia he spent the time diagnosing me and explaining how he could help until we completely understood what we were up against.Dr. Hansen came to see me before surgery to check to see if I was still good with everything and also post-surgery at 7:45 at night after he had been in surgery all day! The surgeon who caused the issue I was having during a prior surgery, never came to check on me once before or after that surgery. Dr. Hansen is the most authentically caring and compassionate doctor I have ever had and, truthfully, I owe my regained happiness to him. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Hansen recently treated my wife who suffered from slipping rib syndrome. I found Dr. Hansen to be the most compassionate, professional and genuine physician. His professionalism is beyond reproach. His care and compassion for his patients is unparalleled. I would recommend him without any hesitation.

My wife had SRS from a non-related surgery. She was misdiagnosed by numerous Drs including a thoracic surgeon. We found Dr. Hansen through the Chest Wall Injury Society and listened to his podcast on their website. I conferred with my neighbor who is an Orthopedic surgeon about the procedure and approach who also listened to the podcast. He felt the procedure was lower risk then a rib removal and was using standard surgical methods. My wife had 3 choices, live with daily pain, remove the rib or Dr. Hansen's procedure. We were advised by a pain management Dr. to only remove the rib/ribs as a last resort due to nerves in that region, it could cause additional pain management problems. We reached out to Dr. Hansen who suggested we met with him and through a table exam, he could diagnose SRS. In about 10 seconds he know what it was and hit the direct spot of her pain. Please remember we saw at least 7 doctors, 2 chiropractors, 2 PT and no one figured this out after 9 months of pain. We even gave them what we thought the problem was, SRS and they all said she didn't have SRS including a 30 year thoracic veteran. Dr. Hansen then spent an hour with us to talk about the procedure. We went forward the next day. He spent an hour before surgery with her. Stopped in that night to she her after a full day. Stopped in the next morning at 7 am to check on her. I will say it was a very painful procedure and he did everything to minimize the post surgical pain. We are at four months and her life has improved dramatically. Thank you Dr. Hansen.

I am so grateful for Dr. Hansen. I recently had surgery for SRS and have nothing but praise for Dr. Hansen and his whole office staff. I had suffered for two years and went to multiple doctors and had multiple tests completed to no avail. Finally my primary doctor heard of Dr. Hansen and referred me to him. HE changed my life and gave me my life back!!! Thank you!!!

I had my SRS surgery performed by Dr. Hansen on 1/8/20. After suffering for over 5 years with pain and going through thousands of dollars of tests, procedures and surgeries but getting no definitive answers, I started my own research. I had thoracic spinal fusion/laminectomy surgery in 2013. It was a tough one, so was labeled with failed spinal surgery. I had told several physicians I had visited that I had a popping in my right side and when I had that popping my pain was always worse. The spinal surgeon said 'well it was nothing I did.' The others had no answers. I understand my surgery was difficult and I understand there could still be pain from it, but knew something else was also going on. I came across SRS and was scheduled to see my neurosurgeon (not the one who did my original surgery). I sent him a note and asked if he could check it out and we could talk about it when I went in the next week for my appointment. I learned when I got there that he had just found out that Dr. Hansen, who is employed at the same hospital as my neurosurgeon, was seeing SRS patients and doing a new surgery with great results. So, off to Dr. Hansen he sent me. An exam.....that was all that was required. No CT, no MRI....an exam. The day I was there it was latched when he did the initial check. When we were sitting there talking, it popped back into place. So, he explained what was happening to me and explained the surgery he was offering in detail. Being able to keep my ribs seemed like the positive route to take. He did not push me in any way to schedule the surgery. It only took me a few minutes to decide though! He also didn't pressure for an immediate surgery....left that up to me. I did delay a couple of months due to the holiday season. The day of surgery he came in prior to the surgery and talked with both me and my husband, explaining it to my husband thoroughly also. He didn't candy coat anything. Said to expect a couple tough weeks, etc. Surgery went well and I was released same day. First couple of days were tough, but then got tolerable. With that many years of my ribs squeezing the intercostal nerves when they latched, it may take a while for the nerves to heal. And, I may also still have other pain from the spinal issues. BUT, I expect to have less pain with the ribs now staying where they are supposed to be!! My post-op appointment was interesting. He brought in a skeleton model and had put stitches in the ribs to explain how he had done mine. He had also asked permission to take video during surgery and showed us the movement in the ribs prior to the stitching and then the stitching being done. Was great getting to understand how it was all done. He is one of the few doctors I have had in the past few years who has made me believe he cared about what was going on. He explains things thoroughly, he talked to me with respect - not like he was 'above' me and he didn't question my symptoms. I had begin to feel like other docs were beginning to believe this pain was in my head or that I was on the search for pain meds. Nothing further from the truth there. I felt respected as a patient with a problem that needed solved. I told him I had seen some great reviews on-line and he mentioned there was an SRS FB group. So, I joined that quickly to be able to communicate and learn with those who are also afflicted with it. He is excited about the new procedure and hopeful that many might be helped by it. SRS is painful! His effort to try and help relieve the symptoms/pain those afflicted with it have is exciting to SRS patients also! So, I recommend Dr. Hansen to anyone with symptoms that point in the direction of SRS. So simple to find out if it is indeed that. Can save years of other medical procedures that are unnecessary. Hopefully the medical community will start recognizing SRS and learn to look for that when a patient describes their symptoms. So, thanks to Dr. Hansen and all at UHC who are serving a role in assisting in relieving the pain of so many. Very much appreciated.

My son David has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and has slipping rib syndrome and 2 flared ribs. David has lived in chronic debilitating pain for almost 8 years. We have gone from doctor to doctor, clinic to clinic, state to state...searching for anything, any procedure, and medication that would alleviate some or all of the pain. Dr. Hansen is an innovative, intelligent, competent surgeon that is also caring and compassionate enough to see a need and then find a way to fulfill the need of people suffering from chronic rib and back pain. Thank you, Dr. Hansen, may you prosper and be blessed for your great work.

Kudos to Dr. Hansen. Dr. Hansen performed many tests to see which surgery option would be the best for my hiatal hernia. I am 5 weeks out and have had no recurring symptoms. He as well as his staff were very professional and caring. I would give this Doctor a 5 star rating.

Very professional and friendly staff. Dr Hansen was given a challenge regarding my condition and he looked me straight in the eye and said 'I can do this'. He gave me the confidence that all was going to be ok. He saved my life.
