Being someone who is considered 'high risk' during pregnancy I had a hard time finding a physician I trusted until dr Algoe. She has gone above and beyond to make me comfortable during my pregnancy, she always has a positive attitude and is extremely proactive.

I went into labor at nearly 24 weeks. Dr. Algoe was the on call doctor. I had every symptom of labor, back pain, consistent, strong, painful contractions about 4 minutes apart, bleeding, lost plug and more. She dismissed me being in labor. She saw that I had a large subchorionic hemorrhage with collected blood on my cervix, I was now suffering placental abruption, but she insisted the contractions were only from the blood irritating my uterus and that I wasn't in labor. I have already had 4 healthy babies, I know what labor is. They left the monitors off me for 5 hours, failed to transfer me to a better hospital equipped for early labor. I was in hard active labor now twisting in bed from excruciating pain (not just normal labor pain, but back labor and placental abruption). I was repeatedly left for long lengths of time to labor alone. I begged for an epidural, the nurse saw how much pain I was in and said she'd ask the doctor (who had only checked me once and even then it wasn't for an hour after I first checked in). The nurse came back and said Dr. Algoe said no to the pain medicine. Eventually when I was now almost about to deliver my baby, I was still begging for pain medicine and the nurse said the Dr was going to check a few other patients then come check me. I was fully effaced and dilated to a 6 (don't have to be fully dilated when you're so early). She then agreed to get me an epidural, which took over 20 minutes to get to me, and she left the room (right after calling for it). Right as the needle was to my back I was in so much pain, I jumped off the bed and delivered my own baby boy and the placenta. My room filled with nurses before Dr. Algoe even came in. When she did she congratulated me on doing so good and asked what she could do for me. I begged her now to help my baby who was trying to breathe and moving his little arms and legs but she declined, she said he was too little for them and the best place for him was right there with me. I held my baby in the shower left alone, while he slowly died over about 20 minutes. When my husband showed up Dr. Algoe even (in a congratulatory way) told my husband I had delivered a beautiful baby boy. I had delivered the placenta myself too and had to ask her if it looked right because I've seen them before and this one looked torn up, she briefly glanced it over saying it looked fine. I was left with retained placenta, a life threatening situation which caused hemorrhaging a week after delivery and sharp pain for 2 weeks. I had a lab done on tissue I was passing, it was deteriorating (rotting tissue) from the placenta. I asked for my medical records from the hospital and was further devastated when I read her own words saying my baby died within 60 seconds of delivery, she wasn't even in the room for the first 60 seconds! I watched my baby struggling for life for 20 minutes while she had left me in the room after her quick congratulations. They gave me a plastic bag and a box to take my baby home in. I left the hospital feeling ashamed like my baby wasn't given a chance for life, like I somehow failed him as a mother for not fighting hard enough, I could hear other newborn babies crying as I walked down the hall. Dr. Algoe has a sweet smile, but she's absolutely evil and cares nothing for mothers or the life of their babies. She could've taken me seriously when I told her I knew I was in labor, she could've told me they weren't equipped to handle a premature baby, and she could have and absolutely should have had me transferred to another hospital. I felt like she knew I was in labor, it felt like she wanted me to have my baby and lose him, and it felt like she wanted me to suffer. What doctor denies a woman in strong labor, with contractions 2 to 3 minutes apart now, an epidural?
