If you have a procedure you want covered through insurance, especially using UnitedHealth Care, this is not the dr for you. Im not sure what has happened in the past but he told me they weren't worth his time to deal with. Plus during my visit we had a miscommunication and he rose his voice at me. Compassionate my butt. His staff is super helpful though.

I have known Dr. VanRaalte for years and referred several friends to him, all having great results. I recently had a procedure done by him myself. I was extremely happy with the time he spent with me explaining all my options and possible risks/complications as I had a complicated situation. He never promised any guarantees, but made his best recommendations and ultimately accepted my decisions. I am very happy with my results and mostly appreciated his time and honesty. This isn't something I've experienced with other plastic surgeons. He knows how to read patients and how they will likely do based on their health and motivation. And he's very honest about that. Some patients don't take that well. But I for one, truly appreciate the honesty!

I had a mastectomy with reconstruction and still healing. Dr is straight forward and will not give false hope. He will tell you all the pros and cons of the procedure and the healing process. Follow his instructions and you will be good. I still have 1 more surgery to go. He and his staff are great to work with and know what they are doing. Dr Vanraalte cares about the outcome.

Dr. Van Raalte is an excellent physician. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He always recommends what is best for the patient. Ive always been self conscious about my lips being uneven so much so that I wouldnt wear dark lipsticks. I also felt self conscious about the deep crease between my eyes that made me look tired and angry. Dr. Van Raalte recommended a filler product that would work well to balance out my lips and fill in the crease. Ive received many compliments on my lips and appearance since my filler treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Van Raalte!

Yes, Dr. Van Raalte is a plastic surgeon as he frequently likes to force into many conversations in public. I have meet him personally and had lived in the QCA for over 20 years. Unfortunately he has engaged in turf-war behaviors against his competitors in the Quad Cities. As a cosmetic patient myself and with knowing his attacks on more than one of his colleagues in the Iowa corridor, a few years ago I just could not keep my Botox appointment and turned around before walking through that Palace-Shrine and with knowing that the money put into that building was partially on the backs of other professional colleagues who don't have his connections with members of the Iowa Board. Not all plastic surgeons act like their you-know-what doesn't stink and that they are 'special' doctors simply because they went to plastic surgery school. Dr Van Raatlte is a so-so surgeon so he does deserve some respect for being 'a surgeon'; but he does not deserve the level of respect just because he thinks he deserves such respect with his title. Thankfully there are surgeons out there in the Quad Cities who are genuinely great people and are also skilled and respectful professionals at the same time. Enough honesty! I finally garnered the strength and the safety to put forth my concerns about my knowledge and personal experience when I was a previous resident of the Quad Cities.

I highly recommend Iowa Plastic Surgery to anyone! The whole staff is so helpful and friendly. Dr. Van Raalte removed some moles for me. I hardly felt any pain, and you can barely tell I had anything removed! Dr. explained everything to me so I would know what to expect. His nurse, Gina, was very kind and helped put any worries at ease. I had many questions and they were both so patient with me. Also, I have been in for a Hydrafacial and Dermaplaning treatment. Nancy is their medical aesthetician, and she is wonderful! I always feel so revived and 'brand new' when I come in to see her. Dr. and the staff at Iowa Plastic Surgery are just terrific, if I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

I could not be more pleased! This was my first experience with a plastic surgeon and I have to admit, I was a little nervous going in to my first appointment. Dr. Van Raalte and his incredible staff did a fantastic job of making me feel at ease and making my whole experience so positive. The staff was incredibly friendly, kind, efficient, and patient. Dr. Van Raalte was so easy to visit with, and took a long time to explain my procedure and what my options were. I felt well informed and not pressured in to anything I wasnt ready for. I saw Dr. Van Raalte on 7/2/18 for dermal fillers in my lips. Im very happy with the look of my lips and how the procedure went. His facility was clean and the ladies were all professional. We spoke in depth about my 2 options, Juvederm and Volbella. When I mentioned probably going with Juvederm (the cheaper of the 2) he made a joke about my employer and my budget. I found this comment to be incredibly distasteful. I was able to laugh it off and move on but I was really surprised given the setting of the environment. I was insulted and embarrassed. Because of this I will not return to Dr. Van Raalte.
