DOCS - Dermatologists Of Central States (DSSC) - Kalamazoo Reviews

My 'dermatologist' Amber was completely dismissive and in a rush when it came to checking over my skin. I told her about my seb derm (skin flakes) in my ear and she said she saw little flakes but that it wasn't that big of deal and my ears look 'good.' I'm not sure if I need to see a new dermatologist when I come back or if they're all fast paced and will treat me exactly the same. An absolute bad experience.

My entire family were patients here until recently. I went in for a routine skin/mole check and the person that saw me (not sure if PA or Dr.) literally took less than a minute to check my entire body, after a 45 minute wait. When my 12-year-old went in to discuss acne treatments, they wrote a prescription for a $500+ topical and never returned my calls when my pharmacist told me to ask them for an alternative that was covered by my insurance. They also ended up extracting three blackheads from his face...and then called it acne surgery and charged us $165. When we called to ask why it had been classified as surgery, the practice manager never called back, despite two messages being left. We understand medical bills, but the lack of care, response, and general practice here is terrible and we will not be back.

My husband and I have been patients for years. Always making our appointments in the summer after our travels. Some were routine, and others more complicated. Each received prompt and courteous attention. Some required more follow-up, always prompt and professional for which we were thankful.

I've been a patient here for a number of years now and have recommended them to others as well. Their service is wonderful! I never have to wait more than 5 minutes for my appointment and ALL the staff are very friendly and certainly professional. I recommend these folks very highly!

There was a larger woman at the receptionist desk and was very rude. I showed up because I am a person to take it upon my self and handle things on my own, also because I was clueless about the process on getting into a dermatologists office. She was very loud as I tried lowering my voice as the conversation went on and she pin pointed that I was wrong for coming in with paper work that I had completed. Again... I always take it upon my self because I am a responsible Adult. She sent me over to the receptionist next to her which was no different. Absurd

This is Beverly's husband Dean Buyce. Amber and her great crew treated me today taking a biopsy in two areas. It is always a joy to be so well treated and respected by this group. This crew is just flat great to be around. Looking forward to seeing them again in two weeks to review the results.

This office is a joy to experience. Prompt, and professional service with calm, compassionate staff in all roles. The PA, Amber, is top notch...thorough, engaging and great at explaining her observations and treatment options.

I have been a patient for over 5 years. Staff is very courteous. Easy to make appointments. The doctors are very much engaged and confident. I would recommend anyone to this practice.

Super rude staff. Make it hard to become a patient and even use bathroom. Have no problem getting documents from my past dermatologist but do I really have to be a paying patient to use your bathroom when I am about to be a patient.

I read negative comments on posts by others and was a bit nervous about going to Battle Creek. I had been to the Kalamazoo office twice before going to the Battle Creek office for MOHS surgery. Lots of patients in the waiting room. Fortunately, I read the 'what to expect' narrative, particularly regarding the time that the procedure would take. I got right in for the initial surgery by Donn which didn't take long. Then I waited 1 hour 45 minutes before being called back in, being told I was clean, and for the wrap-up procedure which included stitches by Esther.I particularly liked the prayer by Esther preceding .her stitch work. The only negative I had was about 10 support staff that I saw. They were all very polite, but it seemed I never saw the same person twice. But other than the which I expected, everything went well.

I've been going here for a year and a half now just because nothing else is available to me. I would not recommend this dermatology clinic if you have anywhere else you can go. The receptionists are rude and in a hurry. The dermatologists, while nice, aren't on the same page about what they recommend (I've been set up with a different dermatologist every time I've gone there except once), and aren't really interested in what you tell them has worked or hasn't worked for you. It just seems like they're in a huge rush, and just come in, look at you, make sure you aren't having kidney problems from the meds, and refill your prescription. I have never had an appointment longer than 6 minutes, not even my first appointment where they photographed me. The wait, however, for a prescheduled appointment can be up to an hour in my experience. As someone who has struggled with acne for 8 years, it's frustrating to be pushed through this quick check in routine every time, when I just want them to pay more attention to my specific case and how they can help.

Poor customer service. Only able to see mid level providers that don't appear interested in your history or needs and only seem interested in sticking to a 2 minute encounter.
