Dr Douglas Gervais and his team are Exceptional! From the moment I met them I knew this was the place to have my breast augmentation done at. My consolation was amazing, they made me feel very comfortable with procedure and the recovery that I ended scheduling my appointment that same day. There was no need for me to get a second opinion. They helped me with finding a size that fits my body, not too big, not too small, just perfect. The day of the surgery they were all amazing and made me feel really comfortable and calmed my nerves and before I knew it my surgery was over. I really enjoyed working with Dr. Tholen. He is a very sweet and knowledgeable doctor. He was very helpful in alleviating any concerns I had when it came to my surgery; and I was extremely nervous about the types of things that could go wrong. However, in the end, everything turned out perfect. But I did very much appreciate Dr. Tholen's honestly. Meaning, he was willing to tell me right upfront that it's possible that I might not get the results that I was picturing in my head. So I felt very comfortable knowing that he was the best doctor for the job. Not all doctors are willing to tell you what modern medicine can and cannot accomplish. I had both breast implant surgery and blepharoplasty done at the same time. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. However, my end results turned out better than I even imagined. I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Tholen if you're considering either one of those surgeries.

I have had two great experiences at Minneapolis Plastic Surgery with Dr. Gervais. My results are great and I couldn't be happier. The staff are incredibly helpful and caring! Both Dr. Gervais and the patient coordinator communicated clearly with me and answered any questions I had. It was clear that they wanted me to be comfortable heading into surgery. I often have a sensitivity to anesthesia and become very nauseous afterward, but at MPS they use a type of anesthesia that is slightly more costly but much less harsh on the body--at least, my body! I had the best wake-up ever! Not even a moment of nausea or discomfort related to anesthesia. Thank you to Dr. G and all the amazing nurses and other professionals who cared for me at various points along the way!

I had breast augmentation surgery one month ago with Dr. Gervais, and I couldn't be happier with my results. I had lost 100 pounds over the past few years from eating healthy and working out, and I was left with very little breast tissue and some loose skin. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Gervais, and I will be forever grateful for that recommendation. I was really concerned about maintaining an athletic physique and didn't want anything too big. I have to admit the day of surgery I wasn't 100% confident in the sizes I was considering. I was concerned they would give me breasts larger than I wanted. I stressed my concerns with Dr. Gervais and reiterated what I was looking for. He recommended based on my height and shoulder width to go one size larger than I was considering. I'm so glad I trusted him and his judgement. The size is perfect and they look so good! I honestly can't stop looking at myself in the mirror!! He obviously knows what he is doing and there is a reason he is rated in the top 1% of plastic surgeons in the nation. Also, I was very impressed with how easy the recovery process has been. I had read some horror stories online, but I followed the aftercare instructions to a T, and everything has been smooth sailing. Dr. Gervais and his staff are amazing. If you are considering having breast augmentation surgery, you should definitely book with Dr. Gervais. It will be one of the best decisions you've ever made.

HORROR STORY! I had a breast augmentation 6 months ago, and I cant even look at them they are so HORRIBLE! Im in tears writing thisDay of surgery: The first thing I hear walking into the office that day from the nurse at the front desk was, Im just filling in and not familiar with things here, so Ill let the front office lady know you are here. We got there an hour early, but after waiting for almost 2 hours I asked the front desk person how much longer it was going to be, because I was starting to get a little anxious and no one had said ONE WORD to me. Oh, they are just running behind on the first surgery it shouldnt be too much longer. As I am sitting there I am seriously thinking about leaving my surgery was supposed to be 1.5 hours ago at this point and I just didnt have a good feeling about it, but I already paid, took the time off work, and have wanted to do this for YEARS so I figured now is my chance.Finally, after 2.5 hours of waiting they call me back to try on again, as I wanted to make sure I had picked the correct size prior to surgery. It seems that the number 1 complaint is that women wish they had gone bigger. I was trying to hide this surgery from people and not go too big, but after much thought I decided to pick the size that made me happy. I felt very RUSHED through this but felt confident in the size I had selected.I was then put into a pre-op room where I sat for a long time until Dr. Gervais came in. He didnt make eye contact at all RUSHED in, said I couldnt have the side I wanted, scribbled some marks on me, and rushed out. He was maybe in the room for a total of 5 mins? I was fine with the fact that the size I had picked he said were too big for what little breast tissue I had, but it was very apparent he was in a hurry to get out of there. The closer and closer I got to the operating table the worse and worse my feelings about it got.Anesthesiologist was AMAZING! He was the only person all day that didnt make me feel like I was being rushed, and he thought of me as a person not just an afternoon surgery. HE IS THE ONLY REASON I DIDNT WALK OUT RIGHT THEN AND THERE. My surgery ran over and at NO POINT did ANYONE update my husband as to what was going on. He seriously was sitting there thinking if he didnt see an ambulance pull up everything must be ok.Post-op: Dr. Gervais never spoke to my husband to tell him how surgery went. The anesthesiologist of course did speak with my husband. The next thing I remember after surgery was waking up in my car. My husband says they had me laying down in the chair to allow me time to wake up. Everyone had left except for the nurse just filling in, and the front desk person. Right outside my room the nurse and front desk person were discussing what to do about locking up because everyone was gone, and the nurse filling in didnt know what to do? My husband said they tried to sit me up right away, but I was throwing up because I hadnt fully come out of the anesthesia yet. That of course didnt stop them from rolling me right out of the building. So, I was rolled out of the building with a puke bag totally out of it, because it was 5pm and they all had to leave by 5 apparently.After 6-8 weeks at my follow up I expressed to Dr. Gervais that my breasts were uneven, that my tiny scar was not in the infra-mammary fold but it was in fact on my breast and very visible, and there was a huge line down both of my breast. His reply was basically that nothing is perfect, and thats just how it goes. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Now I have uneven breast causing my nipples to be uneven, huge scars that are extremely apparent, diagonal dents in both of my breast due to the implant being under my muscle (which is apparently what happens, even though I looked at 100 pictures online and didnt see a single one), and towards the mid-line of my breast the implant is squishing up creating a rippling effect. TERRIBLE!!! DO NOT GO HERE!

Dr. Tholen is a talented physician. He takes deep pride in his work, and will immediately make any patient feel heard, beautiful, and confident. His clinic team Tracy and Crystal are absolutely amazing. They are knowledgeable, they have answers to questions you don't even think to ask. They take the time to make sure you feel comfortable in your ability to understand all the information provided, as well as your recovery. They are so caring, so compassionate I can't say enough good things about MPS. I would highly recommend Dr. Tholen, and his team for any cosmetic procedure.

i recently had top surgery with Richard Tholen and i'm completely happy with the results! He and his staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the questions i had. My pronouns are they/them, which were a bit of a struggle for them, but the effort was definitely there.

I am not normally one to post reviews, but thought I might be able to help someone out. I had BA surgery on 1/20/17. About 2months after surgery I noticed the left hadnt dropped so went in to see the Dr. and was told all looked fine. It wasnt until I went in a couple of months later for a possible infection in the incision site when I mentioned it again that I was told I had capsular contracture and was given a quote to get it corrected. Based on the nonchalant nature of the diagnosis I thought Id get a second (and third) opinion... because I dont want to deal with this again. Both of the subsequent opinions shared I do not have capsular contracture (or if I do very slight) but rather the floor fell out on my right side making the left look higher. Both of the other doctors shared its rare (but not impossible) to have that happen and its usually because of how the initial procedure is conducted (ie the pocket is created). In a nutshell, I am now scheduled with a new doc to have revision surgery on both that includes creating a new floor (which will be very painful I am told) - the revision surgery will cost $12k+. I am only sharing this because I feel like at Mpls Plastic Surgery I was just one of hundreds (maybe thousands) of people they deal with each year. I just wanted to go from a 32AA to a 32B and I totally get that there were risks, but when I had problems and was looking for some understanding, empathy and an accurate solution... I got NOTHING. I have a friend that went here and had no problem, but if you do have problems like I did, I wouldnt expect great care, they just want to get you in and out as quickly as possible - even if it means a misdiagnosis.

( Honestly, I was scared, worried and uncertain- however, Dr. Gervais was very reassuring and I never felt like I was just a patient to him) Dr Gervais communication, optimism, time invested, personality, professionalism, experience and overall surgery/treatment plan convinced me he was the right choice for me.My surgery was completed on November 10, 2017. I am currently 8 weeks post op and I could not be more happy with my decision or my results. Dr. Gervais and his team provided excellent bed side manner and detailed instructions for healing. I have followed these guidelines both pre & post op and have encountered little to no pain/swelling and have experienced expedited healing. I have a desk job and was working from home less than a week post surgery.The decision to have this surgery was not easy, however I could not be more pleased with my surgical experience and results thus far and would highly recommend Dr. Gervais and his team for any cosmetic needs. He has without a doubt given me back my confidence and quality of life.

Dr. Gervis messed my breast up so bad , I hate looking at them . I traveled all the way from Nashville , Tn to have them done because I wanted Gel Silicone so bad , plus I read all the great reviews . The surgery it's self went great far as surgery . But the out come was terrible . I now suffer from a bad situation called ' Double Bubble & Downing ' ! Clearly the breast I chose were to big for my body now there's a big giant separation from my natural breast and also the implants . I thought DR. Gervis would be able to fix it since its only been 5 months , but NO there still wanting to charge me over $3000 just to fix ! I honestly feel like the doctor could have just told me in the beginning the breast would not fix instead of simply using me as a experiment hoping it work !
