I consulted with three other plastic surgeons, and my experience with Dr. Halvorson was been excellent. His office with OR surgery facility is located across the street from Missions hospital, and was very clean with everything of high quality. Dr. Halvorson took the time to explain the procedure, his pain management approach that included using hub-less drainage tubes. I experienced no pain during recovery, and the removal of the drainage tubes was painless. I had no complications and no complaints. The results of my surgery were excellent, and is clear evidence of Dr. Halvorsons professional experience and technical surgical skills. His staff was very pleasant and took very good care of me, and were very helpful through every step of the process. Dr Halvorson is a great doctor that really cares!

I was a little hesitant when I made the decision to do some elective surgery but even just walking into the waiting room I felt a comfortable vibe. I met Dr. Halvorson in a room and he was easy to talk to. My husband came with me and liked him also. Dr H. explained everything to me in terms that I understood and his nurse also was helpful. They answered every question I had and I didn't feel I was being pushed through the appointment. When the day of the surgery came, Dr H came to visit me before to make sure I was okay. After, he also checked on me and advised me what to do to care for my incision. I had no issues, the pain level was very low and I healed beautifully. I am thrilled with my decision and I feel I made the right choice with the right doctor. I also heard rave reviews from my other doctors and I trust them. If I choose or need any other surgeries I know I won't have any hesitation who to go to.

Original post Dec 19, 2018 - Having been diagnosed with an early stage breast cancer, I tried three lumpectomies hoping to avoid a mastectomy, which seemed such a radical step. But the pathology reports kept coming back with unfavorable results. I was told I was a good candidate for a mastectomy with a breast reconstruction at the same time and was referred to Dr Halvorson. I am so thankful for that referral! I had no idea where to go or what qualifications were important, but I found myself in excellent hands.After Dr Halvorson explained my options, I chose a tissue flap surgery rather than an implant and I am so happy and satisfied with the results. As the many other reviews are stating, Dr Halvorson is very kind, patient, knowledgeable, and skilled at what he does. The scar left from my lumpectomies was not smooth and would get very sore, but he corrected that, too, in the process of the reconstruction. I am so thankful that he recently moved to this area and was available when I had a need for his expertise.At one point, I called his nurse's cell # and left a message wondering if I had an infection starting a week after surgery and was surprised that Dr Halvorson himself returned my call within the hour. His nurse, Mary Lynn, was good to call other times to check on my progress and I really appreciated her kindness, too.So I couldn't have had a better experience or better results. I feel whole and normal again. Thank you Dr Halvorson for your top notch care!Follow-up Jan 19, 2020 - I went back this past year to complete the more cosmetic phase 2 of my breast reconstruction. Dr Halvorson clearly explained my options and answered my many questions and then allowed me to make my choice without any pressure or rushing. With the initial surgery in 2018, and the follow-up procedure in 2019, I was given realistic expectations of the results each time. As with any surgery, there is no guarantee that all will go as planned and I was fortunate that all did go well. I am in such a good place right now and I credit Dr Halvorson for his excellent skill and care of me as his patient. I whole-heartily recommend him for anyone that has need for a plastic surgeon!

I found myself at Dr Halvorsons office the day after having a Mohs surgery that didnt go as planned. My basal cell cancer on the tip of my nose was very invasive and resulted in having the whole tip of my nose removed. I didnt know anything about the surgeries that were ahead of me or the plastic surgeon that would be doing this complicated 3 stage procedure. It was a challenging time mentally and physically. Looking back on the whole process now, I feel so blessed that I landed in the best care possible. Dr. Halvorson and all staff members especially his nurse, Mary Lynn Brown RN made me feel so relaxed and safe . I had exceptional care. Dr Halvorson is a very skilled plastic surgeon. I hope never to have to need his services for anything like what I just went through, however I am getting older and who knows, I just may use his talents to help turn back time at some point.! If you are reading this review to see if this is the surgeon for you, have no doubts, he is!

I approached Dr. Halvorson about a breast reduction in hopes of relieving unexplained chronic pain following a thoracic surgery. He was honest in his assessment that this might not be the answer. I decided to proceed anyway since he confirmed I was a good candidate for this particular procedure. He presented information concisely. While this surgery was not a cure for the pain I had been experiencing, it did improve how I felt in other unexpected ways. I came to Dr. Halvorson in March 2018 inquiring about breast augmentation surgery. I was looking for a multi-skilled surgeon in the Asheville area with outstanding credentials and excellent reviews, and thats exactly what I found with Doctor Halvorson and his team. My first impression of Dr. Halvorson was that he is very personable, knowledgeable, and an exceedingly talented expert in his profession. He explained the entire surgery process in depth, including my implant options, what to expect before and after surgery, risks involved, etc. He answered my entire list of questions before I even asked them! Jennifer, the clinical assistant, did an outstanding job of explaining the pre/ post-op guidelines. She gave me her cell phone number to call her directly with any questions or concerns regarding my surgery. She even arranged for a staff member to come stay with my daughter in the waiting room while my husband was given my post-op instructions in the OR. Savannah, the patient coordinator, was so kind to stay with my daughter while my husband was given post-op instructions in the OR. My daughter is very shy, but she loved Savannah and was very comfortable with her. When I came back in for my post-op follow up appointment, Savannah treated my daughter to a ballon and a sweet treat, which we both greatly appreciated. Jennifer and Savannah both went out of their way to accommodate my family and me. The nurses in the OR are just a sweet bunch of ladies. Theyre highly skilled and confident, which made me feel very comfortable. They are motherly, thoughtful and concerned, and they took great care of me. I am beyond satisfied with my surgery results, and how amazingly well the entire process went, from start to finish. I was able to make my initial consultation appointment much quicker than I expected, as well as my date of surgery. Dr. Halvorson and his team are nothing short of amazing and I would without a doubt recommend anyone to Halvorson Plastic Surgery.

After a bilateral mastectomy, and two sets of implants (the second of which resulted in one implant having to be removed due to infection on my radiated side, I was skeptical as to how good an aesthetic result I would achieve with a DIEP flap but felt it was the only option I had left to try. Luckily for me, Dr Halvorson had just moved to Asheville and as soon as I read his bio I knew I was going to be with an excellent surgeon. When I met him he did not disappoint. He was very realistic about what he thought my outcome would be and he (and his team) made me feel so comfortable throughout the whole experience. I have to say that although this was major surgery, it was nowhere near as bad as I was prepared for and my end result is absolutely astounding. Dr Halvorson has transformed my body. My breast reconstruction is better than I could ever have hoped for, even if I had not going through the failed reconstruction attempts prior to meeting him. He always took plenty of time during consultations and made sure all my questions were answered, he also made sure to listen to what I wanted and was very thorough in his follow up care and procedures. I cannot recommend Dr Halvorson and his expertise enough. He is a truly talented and skilled surgeon and Asheville is lucky to have him.
