* In February I had a total knee replacement and I'm getting ready to have another one April 2nd! I'm so pleased with the result of my first surgery!! Dr. Bates and Steve Huber did a wonderful job! The entire staff was great! It's the qualities like I've listed below that promotes a successful outcome!!*I'm always greeted when I walk in the door with a friendly smile and a warm welcome followed by, 'how can I help you?'* Wonderful nurse staff who are always willing to answer your questions and help you in any way they can. Very friendly and respectful. *Excellent response time to questions that I submit through the portal be it for the doctor or something else. I also have the same response when I leave a telephone message for the surgeon's nurse on the answering machine. According to the need, my surgeon has returned my call during his busy day. That's comforting to know!* In regards to finance, they are more than willing to work with you and set up a payment plan that works within your budget. You never have to worry about confidentiality and you are made to feel very comfortable in discussing finances. Quite an easy going experience and not stressful.*All in all, I could not be more pleased with the services that I have received. The entire staff works together to make sure you are taken care of. They are professional and yet personable, they are serious and yet they are fun and make you laugh and feel at ease, but most importantly you are a person to them and not just a chart!

I have had two very positive experiences in the past 8 years. Dr. Bates performed a total knew replacement in 2010 and just recently took care of a torn rotator cuff. Both surgeries were successful and performed in a very efficient and professional manner. Hopefully I am through with surgeries but if I do need surgeries in the future I will not hesitate to return to Dr. Bates and would recommend him to anyone.

Carolina Center for Surgery is an excellent place for Orthopedic Care and epecially Dr. Thomas Bates and his Physicians Assistant Steve Huber. They never make you feel rushed and answer all your questions. They have done my rotator cuff and a total knee replacement and all went well. I plan to have them do a total replacement on my other knee this fall and I expect to have the same results.I highly recommend them for all your orthopedic needs.Anna Thompson

I had a total knee replacement on Jan. 21, 2019 thanks to Dr. Coles, I have had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Coles, Sarah Bedard, PA-C, and the staff at Carolinas Center for Surgery. Everyone has been very friendly and helpful. I did not have to wait long for an appointment and prior to my surgery , I was fully informed and prepared as to what to expect which made me more comfortable. When the time comes to do my other knee, I will definitely want Dr. Coles to perform my surgery.

I had weight loss surgery in March of 2016 with Dr. Johnson. I can't say enough about how happy I am with my results. I lost 98 lbs. in 9 months and I feel like I got my life back. My blood pressure is now normal, my joints don't ache, I am full of energy and I feel great about myself. Dr. Johnson's staff and the entire office staff is always friendly and efficient. I never have to wait more than a few minutes before being seen. Dr. Johnson and Carolinas Center for Surgery is the best!

The morning of my arthroscopic knee repair surgery, the operating team was very professional, experienced and comforting. The doctor is very competent and experienced, having successfully done serious work on my right shoulder in 2010. The followup visit was very thorough and I'm set up with physical therapy.Not a fun experience, but this doctor and his team were terrific.

Excellent Surgeons! I've come for second opinion both for Dr. A. Guirgues (spine) and Dr. T. Bates (hip). Both of these physicians took the time to express their opinion of what would be best for me. In each case, the doctor answered all my questions, their office and medical staff are excellent and follow through to answer any and all of your questions. It's almost a two and half hour drive for me to visit them in Morehead City, almost three hrs. to Jacksonville ~ they are worth the drive!

I saw Dr. Bates and his PA Steve for my orthopedic appointment on March 8th. I was in a great deal of pain behind my left knee and on the verge of tears as I am the sole caregiver for my husband. I admit to skepticism towards orthopedics in general so was prepared to flee at the slightest thing. Boy, I was so taken off guard by the compassionate care from both the PA and Dr. Bates. X-rays were taken on site before I saw them so they were able to provide me with a diagnosis and options immediately. I suppose their attentiveness to me and my home situation as part of my understanding my situation won me completely. Options were limited but I did receive a shot that has helped a great deal. There was no push to suggest other treatments, minimal invasion was the order of the day and I left deeply grateful. I will see them again with follow-ups and have complete confidence in their skill and their genuine compassion. The office staff were efficient and kind as well.
