Holzman Plastic Surgery - Steven Holzman, MD Reviews
E&A Gilmore
I can't say enough about how great Dr. Holzman and his entire team were throughout my entire breast reduction process July2019. I was terrified at the thought of having surgery but I am so pleased with the results! The surgery was long overdue - years of back pain and numbness in my arms and legs. Dr. Holzman knew I was nervous but reassured me that I would be well taken care of and pleased with the results. He was right! He is witty and genuinely seemed to care about my well-being. I had a few insurance issues but NOT of any fault of Dr. Holzman's office. They were always willing to assist if needed. Thank you Dr. Holzman and team for helping me change my life. I am grateful!

Dr. Steven Holzman is an amazing plastic surgeon & his staff is phenomenal. My procedure went smoothly & exactly as he said it would. The aftercare I recieved was top notch. They treated me with kindness & respect & did absolutely everything they could to make my experience as comfortable as possible. They were even willing to fight with insurance if necessary.

A good friend of mine had highly recommended Dr. Holzman to me and I am so glad that she did. My experiences with doctors offices have been that if you like the doctor, then the staff isn't typically great and vice versa. However, not with this office! Dr. Holzman and his staff (Crystal, Courtney, Jill) were amazing to work with. I had many questions and was somewhat nervous prior to my initial visit. The team here worked to make me comfortable, answer all my questions and never made me feel that I was putting them out (AND I asked a ton of questions/sent emails/phone calls). I am thrilled with my results and feeling more confident. No matter what procedure you are looking to have done, check out Dr. Holzman and staff. You won't be sorry and will be treated with respect and kindness.

I had breast reduction surgery with Dr. Holzman and had an awesome experience. My primary care physician recommended him and now I do too. His staff were really great helping me submit my procedure to see if it would get approved by insurance (it did!) and were prompt with all follow ups. The surgery center is right in the same building and the staff there were really great too. Before surgery I had questions about how much tissue to be removed. Its hard to figure out when you are a lay person. Questions such as the impact of removing 375 grams in one breast meant nothing to me in practical terms so I really leaned on Dr. Holzman to guide me through what the ideal end result would be for me. He had a strong point of view, which I really appreciated! I didnt want a doctor to approach the surgery with: tell me what to do and Ill do it. I wanted a doctor to hear what was bothering me and what I was trying to achieve and help me get there. I cant recommend Dr. Holzman and his team enough.

Great doctor and great surgery. Everyone in the office was incredible and very helpful. I had some mix ups with my insurance and the people in his office did everything they could to help me fix the issue. Loved him!

Dr. Holzman sutured a significant facial laceration on my forehead and close to my eye after a fall from my bike. The care and attention to detail were extraordinary. People marvel at the results given the extent of the injury. Dr. Holzman is the consummate professional, with extraordinary skill. On follow-up visits, he took the time needed to answer questions and discuss wound care procedures in depth. I am extremely lucky to be Dr. Holzman's patient.

We have all been to countless doctors in our lifetimes and I can confidently state that my experience with Dr. Holzman ranks at the very top of my list as the best experience, amidst the most difficult procedure Ive ever had performed. Dr. Holzmans work is superb the bi-lateral breast reconstruction he performed on me is flawless, despite the fact that I am a cosmetic challenge (a very thin, 50 year old runner). Dr. Holzman is not only gifted as a surgeon, but he is also kind, respectful, and empathetic in the care he provides. Never rushed, he takes as long as needed to explain and answer all questions in a respectful manner. His kindness was underscored by my personal experience - I am somewhat new to Austin and my only family waiting on my surgery consisted of my two extremely worried teenage daughters. I recognize that distraught teens are the last faces a doctor wants to encounter in a post-surgical family update, yet Dr. Holzman treated the girls with the utmost respect and kindness, while thoroughly explaining all the facts. The girls truly appreciated how he treated them and I appreciated it even more, as a mother and patient. In summary, Dr. Holzmans skill as a surgeon, character, and kindness are unrivaled, as is the professionalism and promptness of his very personable staff, who always greet you with a smile and never keep you waiting. And, as my girls will repeatedly tell you, he is so nice.

I went to Dr. Holzman for a consultation for a breast augmentation. One year prior I had a lumpectomy as a precaution due to abnormal cells. He spent approximately 45 minutes with me answering my questions. I was concerned about future mammograms but he assured me that I shouldn't worry about it, that there were other imaging options. We discussed putting the implants above the muscle without a lift. The following Monday his staff called me to see if I wanted to set the surgery date. I set the date for 15 days from the day they called me. I gave them a $1,500.00 deposit. The next day, 14 days prior to surgery, I called with a question about my previous diagnosis of precancerous cells that we hadn't addressed during consult. I was worried that with the implant being in front of the muscle tiny calcifications would be more difficult to detect on a mammogram. The office manager asked Dr. Holzman and called me back saying that it should be fine and she actually said some women have told her that they were able to feel a lump better with the implant above the muscle. That didn't ease my mind, in fact it scared me, but I thought I was just anxious. That evening I read some articles stating that implants, especially above the muscle, would make it almost impossible to see precancerous calcifications and could impede the diagnosis of breast cancer until it is too far progressed. I called the next day, 13 days prior to surgery and cancelled. I had not had my pre-op visit, they had not ordered any product. Jill, the office manager, informed me that they would keep my $1,500.00 since I cancelled after the 14 day window per their policy. I asked if they could work with me since I had scheduled only 2 days prior, she called back and stated that Dr. Holzman had agreed to only keep $750.00 and that was more than fair. Her tone was not at all as cordial as it had been. I emailed her later and stated that I thought that was excessive for a 45 min consult. I offered $300.00 for the bother of a consult and his staff spending 10 minutes to schedule and cancel the surgery suite. They kept the $750.00. A week later the surgery center called me to go over my history and I had to tell them that I had cancelled the surgery a week prior Dr. Holzmans office manager. Two days prior to the surgery date they called again wanting to go over my history..my point is Dr. Holzmans office never cancelled the surgery suite. They can't say that I tied up the surgical suite because they hadn't bothered to cancel it the day I cancelled with their office. They didn't spend anything on products. I know that I agreed to their office policy. Yes, I signed the agreement. I have worked in the medical field for over 30 years and also know that it isn't written in stone and physicians can waive the fee. I know he didn't keep the entire $1,500.00, but $750.00 is not reasonable for the amount of time and effort they spent. I feel they took advantage. If I had already had my pre-op visit, they had ordered the implants, and I had cancelled even one week prior I could understand. I did not write this review in haste. Maybe this will help someone else from making this costly mistake. Schedule your surgery far enough in advance so if you do have additional questions, or concerns that you need addressed, or if you want to postpone or cancel you won't be subject to such an excessive fee. The young lady who answered the phone and scheduled my surgery was very nice as was the nurse. To be fair, Dr. Holzman was friendly during my consult and did not rush me. He answered all the questions I had at the time and explained the procedure in detail.

Dr. Holzman and everyone in his office was nice, informative and supportive in the process of my breast reduction. It was my first surgery and I was very nervous but I couldn't be happier with the results. This was life changing and I'm grateful to have had such a great team to guide me through this

Dr. Holzman answered all of my questions about breast reduction surgery. He listened to me and respected my choice of size and did not push me into having other procedures done. I feel great now and am thrilled with my results!!

Dr. Holzman and his staff are an incredible group of people. They go out of their way to support their patients, and allow them to be well-informed and comfortable with the procedures they're looking for. I am so glad to have had Dr. Holzman as my surgeon.

Dr. Holzman & his staff were very nice. I was not satisfied with the abdominoplasty/tummy tuck he performed. He did not deliver the corset outcome he promised. He had me to consult with a surgeon for a 2nd opinion. I did and Dr. Holzman offered to refund me 1/2 price. He then reneged on his offer. I see that as not standing by your work or word. Also, an abuse of power to turn me over to his legal team after offerIng me a refund amount in writing. His legal team said they would not pay the piddly $1900. Not very nice.

Dr. Holzman did my breast reconstruction surgery 11 years ago and I have been back to have the implants switched out this past year. Dr Holzman and his entire staff are very easy to work with. They listen and are helpful and kind. Appointments are quick and you are not left waiting for the dr.

I have went to Dr. Holzman for 3 different procedures. All 3 have turned out amazing. He has a great stitching technique for minimal scarring and works with you to address your concerns. He has a great table side manner and makes the procedure very comfortable. Highly recommended!

Dr. Holzman removed two moles from my face a couple of weeks ago. My dermatologist suggested that I have them removed by a plastic surgeon because of their location. Dr. Holzman was great - very friendly, quick, approachable, and open to whatever questions I had. His staff was great too. I am very happy with my results and I'm glad I had this done at his office.

Dr. Holzman did an excellent job repairing my ripped earlobe. The procedure was the best price out of 6 others plastic surgeons I called. He was very friendly and professional.

Because of my significant weight loss, I had a lot of excess skin. I found Dr. Holzman on the web and made an appointment with him and one other Dr. After interviewing both doctors, I choose Dr. Holzman because he was the most knowledgeable and informative. I had a positive feeling that he could help me and I was not disappointed. He did an excellent job and I would recommend him highly.

Dr. Holzman and his staff alleviated all my concerns before the surgery. And they certainly lived up to every expectation. I had wanted a reduction since I found out it was possible. I am over 60 and decided there is no time like the present. After surgery my back pain was instantaneously removed ! Now I feel and look great! Thank you, Dr. Holzman! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Dr. Holzman is the best! I had a few cysts that really bothered me and had bad experiences with previous cyst removals that resulted in unsightly hypertrophic scars. Dr. Holzman provided the best care and left me with the TINIEST scars imaginable. My only regret is not going to him sooner for my previous cysts removals! His office staff is also very friendly and attentive. I can't say enough about the wonderful experience I had with Dr. Holzman and his staff.

Dr. Holzmans patient ongoing since June 2013. Before I can write a review of appreciation and thanks to/ and about Dr. H. I want to make sure I first give honor and praise where it belongs. Hang on I took my time to write an honest review. Above all I thank God for his healing power through Jesus Christ his Son. God is great and awesome! All the nurses, staff and every physician I had was very caring. I thank God for all of them and every Physician that practice with a true calling and sincere heart for their patient.I was diagnosed with breast cancer. With aggressive type 3 cancer we opted to wait 4 months before any surgery or treatment. That was a very scary time even if you walk in faith. We prayed and ask God for wisdom. We waited and the tumor shrunk and no cancer spread. But the tumor was still there and I had cancer calcifications in the left breast also, so we decided to go ahead with the surgery. We are Gods masterpiece. He has created us a new in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)

Dr. Holzman was able to help clean up my abdomen from scarring from a few prior surgeries. Dr. Holzman took the time needed to understand my situation and complications while providing a procedure that exceeded my expectations. His office staff was always nice and very willing to help. I would highly recommend Dr. Holzman to anyone that needs plastic surgery.

Dr. H came highly recommended by a co-worker. He is very experienced & is Board Certified. He is in his early fifties and is married to a physician. Lately he changed his looks by growing a full beard which might make him look a tiny bit older. He had to attend to my concerns the day before Christmas, during his vacation in the snow. He is nearly always available. I sent pictures per cell phone so he could understand what was happening with me. (I was in Co). Some may label Dr. H. to be a little bit eccentric. My husband & I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. H. I was diagnosed with breast cancer & very anxious, Dr. H. would take time to put my nerves at ease. I never had to sit & wait for long periods of time in the front office or even in the private room.My husband always went with me & Dr. H would patiently answer all questions! Dr H. is kind, funny & easy to talk to. He has excellent bedside manner. Dr. H. is very open & honest as to what is reasonable to expect from your procedure. I loved the fact that he doesn't over do or under do. Dr. H. worked well with all my other Drs. The bilateral mastectomy was performed by Dr. B (a general Surgeon, Cedar Park Hospital). Dr. H. followed the surgery with an immediate bilateral reconstruction with 300cc expanders. I remember being picky & did not want the flat cut straight across the middle half of the breast, with a quick scoop of tissue & being sewn up. No, beforehand I discussed with Dr. H. that I wanted some natural looking cleavage & that I did not want to look like two round soccer balls had been attached to my body. I wanted to be a full size, (as I was) but I wanted to look natural. I expanded up to 800cc. Dr H gave me a lift also, meaning he cut a half moon under the breast with a technical A shape from the nipple down. Sometime after my original surgery, I got confirmation that I was BRC positive. That changed the treatment plan and I had to schedule 3 surgeries over the span of two days, or run the risk of losing my employment of 20+ years.Dr. H. once again accommodated me. I had my first surgery on Oct.27. Dr. H. came by to see me just before the surgery @ North Ridge Hospital. I was fortunate that he noticed & requested that I needed an extra dose of Meds (because of 3 different procedures), to ensure the success None of the other 2 physicians or the staff attending caught this. The very next day I went to St Davids hospital for a total hysterectomy followed by Dr. H. replacing the expanders. In both these cases Dr. H. had to work with physicians outside of his regular team, to help accommodate my schedule. He was always very helpful and very considered. During the procedure, Dr. lowered my L breast from the original spot and performed liposuction on both sides under my arms. That resulted in a little bruising for few days but that was normal & I healed fast. My first nipple reconstruction unfortunately turned out to not be successful. I developed necrosis (4 months). I waited a year before I scheduled to redo my nipple reconstruction and Dr. H. suggested some minor breast correction at the time. But finally, it did heal nicely. I am healed now & I am very happy with the outcome. Keep in mind though, what did you look like before surgery? Were you perfect? I didnt think so& even after the fact you will not be perfect. But ask God to guide the hands of your surgeon. I am truly thankful to Dr. H and above all, to YHWH.Many times Dr. &/ or his staff signed and completed letters for me that made it possible to attend and participate in certain Breast Cancer functions such as Image Reborn not to mention those pesky FMLA forms. His regular charge for FMLA form is $25. I also signed up for Austin Art Bra as an artist and model and Dr. H. sponsored my efforts with $100. The staff is great & create a welcoming atmosphere. Jill in particular has always been quick in her response to email questions or concerns. I am very happy to be one of Dr Hs patients.

He tried his best, he tried to do the right thing and fix the lipo procedure he batched up but was unsucessful! To correct that mess is going to cost me over $7000 which I dont have so for the time being I will have to live with the dreadful result which does nothing for my appearance, self-esteem and confidence.
