I went in for a tattoo removal on my wrist and they talked me into doing a 2 for 1 session and they burned my skin way too deep into my arm. The woman using the laser had no idea what she was doing and kept trying to sell me other services. The skin on my wrist fell off for days and boiled up very high. It took weeks to heal. Literally looked green towards the end. They never gave me instructions or cream to heal it until I came back in freaking out because of how infected it look. They gave me antibiotic burn cream and it finally started to heal. That was a few years ago and I have thick scaring on my wrist now. I will eventually seek out another doctor to see what can be done about the scaring and potentially further lightening but terrified of going close to a laser ever since this happened. I do not recommend this place.

It is never comfortable to reveal one's inadequacies to another, even if that other person is a doctor. Underdeveloped breasts had been incredibly damaging to my self-esteem as a young woman and insecurities long forgotten were about to be exposed again. I knew I had chosen the best plastic surgeon in Nashville for my breast implant replacement, yet I was extremely nervous to meet him. Consequently, Dr. Wendel entered the room. And he put me at ease right away. He had an assuring presence and a kind demeanor, such that the anxiety gave way to a definitive trust. I was thereafter undaunted, as his exceptional staff guided me through the process with attentive care. Moreover, the procedure itself was a metaphorical walk in the park. I awoke postoperatively with pristine incisions, no bruising whatsoever, and minimal pain; souvenirs from an admirably skillful surgeon. Currently six weeks since, I am healing nicely. My friends tell me I'm glowing. And so I am. With renovated breasts and restored confidence, I take pleasure in relating my experience with this estimable man and his remarkable team at Dr. J.J. Wendel Plastic Surgery.

The team at Dr. J.J. Wendel Plastic Surgery are all highly qualified, skilled professionals. They're my go to for botox and filler needs - they lock me down, but don't make me look frozen. I had seen results from another patient who had a HALO laser and BBL, and their skin looked amazing - new, refreshed, and visibly smoother. During my last appt, I inquired as to whether or not I would be a good candidate as well. Paige Hastings, patient angel that she is, took the time to talk through all my questions. She asked me about my desired results, talked me through how the procedure was performed, discussed any potential side effects, told me how long I could expect to see results from the procedure, and addressed that sometimes ugly thing - cost. She let me know that I wouldn't need certain treatment on all of my face, but rather only part of it, so I wasn't getting (or paying) for more than I would need. The day of the procedure she talked me through everything that was happening real time. When you have eye covers on, you are literally in the dark as to what is happening. She told me everything that would happen before she started and continually took pulse checks throughout the procedure. After the procedure, everything happened just as she said it would. I resembled a tomato, my skin sloughed off, and just three days later my face looked just a slightly tinted more red than normal. They had me come back one week after the procedure to make sure I was healing well. During that appt, we talked through potential skin care routine changes that would help maximize my results. I can't say enough wonderful things about the care, quality, and professionalism of Paige and the rest of the team at Dr. Wendel's. If you're at all interested, I would say book a consult because they will take the time to really figure out what works best for you.

He actually listened to my concerns and reassured me and made me feel comfortable with my decision. His staff is also amazing! Eva and Penny were with me every step of the way, answering all my questions and working around my hectic schedule. Dr. Wendel is board certified and on the BII explant surgeons list (where I found him) and I would definitely recommend him if you need an explant surgery. I am a 43 year-old male, and for the last 20+ years, I have pondered the idea having some sort of chin/neck procedure to get rid of my double chin and create a more attractive profile, as I've always despised how I often looked in pictures, especially from the side. I literally discovered Dr. Wendel via a Google search, and when I went in for my consultation, I was pretty apprehensive. The ladies at the reception desk were extremely friendly, and when I finally met with Dr. Wendel, his kind, approachable and humorous nature kind of caught me off guard. (In all honesty, I have found that the best doctors usually have fairly poor social skills, and the doctors who do have them are usually not as skillful in their practice. Dr. Wendel is the happy exception to this rule of thumb.) Dr. Wendel walked in the room, and when I told him my concern regarding my chin and profile, he immediately responded 'Yep! You'd do great with a medium sized chin implant and lipo.' I was taken back a bit by how quickly and confidently he was able to suggest a solution, and so I asked him about other options as well. He was gracious enough to explain to me all of the other less invasive options, and didn't pressure me one bit. When I left the office that day, I had scheduled my surgery. The instructions and care leading up to the surgery were about as perfect as one could hope for, and the surgery itself went off without a hitch. As I write this review, it's been just over a week since the procedure, and not only have I experienced very little pain as a result, but I am beyond thrilled with the results. My scar is barely noticeable even this soon after the procedure, and most of the swelling has completely subsided. If you are at all nervous about finding/choosing the right doctor for your cosmetic needs, hear me when I say that I honestly can't say enough good things about this office. I was so happy with the service they provided me, in fact, that I emailed them and said, 'I'd like to write you guys a public review. I am THAT big of a fan!' I will be recommending Dr. Wendel and his team to all of my friends and colleagues. If you decide to utilize their services, you can rest easy that you will be taken care of.

Lori Lankford is THE BEST in Nashville. I am increeeedibly picky when it comes to my face. I have had some not-so-great experiences in the past with some poor outcomes that have left me feeling very self-conscious. I felt like other places were hurrying and not being very diligent. Lori takes her time to examine your face, takes pictures, asks what you are wanting, and does what is best for YOU. She is not someone who just wants to get you in and out. I felt it was suspicious when they asked for my credit card information, including the security code, when I made my first appointment. Then received a text message from my bank stating a company in the Bahamas, had charged my card. I called back and the receptionist was very rude and did not offer any explanations and hung up on me. I am still awaiting a refund for the $150 charged to my card. #BuyerBeware

As a threshold matter, you should understand that everyone here wears medical scrubs and no identification, including clerical staff, which I feel is disingenuous. This is important because unless you ask or check their website for educational credentials, it's difficult to determine if the person caring for you is licensed by the state, 'certified' by someone for something, or is simply a high school graduate who looks like a medical professional.More importantly, at the core of any medical treatment is the goal of protecting the patient's dignity.In my case, a clerical person/office manager, with no medical qualifications of any kind, was allowed in the room to watch pictures being made of my breasts. In a separate appointment, a clerical person/office manager was, again, allowed in the room to watch pictures being made of my most intimate area in various positions. It's vile to be ambushed by some secretary waiting to watch you spread your legs; especially when this clerical person is eagerly asking you medical questions. It's my understanding that under the American Medical Association ethics guidelines, it was medically unethical of this secretary to ask medical questions since this person was not medically qualified. At no time did anyone ever ask my permission or even how I felt about this. When a clerical person was allowed in the room a second time, I finally objected and this clerical person haughtily replied 'I will leave but I am not closing the door.' The door REMAINED OPEN and I was left in a helpless position and felt humiliated and degraded. Anyone walking by could have seen me with my legs spread. Allowing some clerical person in the room and allowing this person to leave the door open was an indignity of the most vile form. Yes, I should have left immediately. Please, please always be prepared to advocate for yourself.On another occasion, a stranger was allowed in the room. I presumed she was a medical student but was never told and never asked. This person was allowed to observe a physical exam of an intimate nature. I was not asked and did not give my permission to have this person in the room. As I understand it, this is also unethical under the American Medical Association ethics guidelines.Also, I was sitting in the middle of the waiting room (with other patients) minding my own business and was approached by a member of office management. This person asked me, in front of other people, about my medical procedure and its fees. As I see it, discussing my medical information in front of other patients is a violation of the federal privacy rule HIPAA. After I complained, I was told to leave the practice 'effective immediately.' Really? The only thing I did wrong was not take up for myself. I guess it was also wrong of me to assume I'd be treated professionally and that my privacy and dignity would be honored. It's my understanding that under the American Medical Association ethics guidelines, it was unethical for the practice to cut ties with me without sufficient notice.And yes, I was an established surgery patient for about four years. As I understand it, this person no longer works at this office. However, this practice is still a magnet for the most snarky, unprofessional and customer service illiterate management possible. I believe the doctor is talented but the practice is in need of serious oversight. No matter how good the doctor is, if the staff isn't, you'd be much better served taking your hard earned money elsewhere.

I had implants after a double mastectomy that ruptured and silicone migrated to my lymph nodes. No PS in Memphis TN would even see me once they knew that my implants (that all told me could not rupture), had indeed ruptured...and both were completely ruptured! I went to Dr Wendel who didn't hesitate to get my ruptured implants out. AND, the best part is...although I didn't even know to ask to have ALL the capsule taken out, he did it anyway. Most PS will not admit that some patients can become very ill from silicone and they refuse to take out capsule as they don't see it as necessary. I feel truly blessed that I ended up in Dr Wendel's office and not another PS who would not have properly removed my implants.

Highly recommend! I had my breast augmentation with Dr. Wendel and I am absolutely in love with the results. They're exactly the size I wanted and look very natural. After my final follow up, I inquired about Botox and fillers and I was given an honest answer and was told it wasn't necessary at this point in time. He is so professional and accommodating to your needs. He is super quick and he wants what is best for the patient. Penny on the other hand is SOOOO SWEET, I don't know how someone can be so sweet EVERYday, not sure she has a mean bone in her body. From appointment 1 and until now, she has always went ABOVE and BEYOND by checking on me after my appointments, putting special bandage on my arm to make it more comfortable for me, to remembering our conversations from before to continue when I come back next.
